I did that for many years on my 911S in MA and then you couldn’t pass inspection without the front license plate. I hated the look. Moved to NC two years and had the holes in my from bumper repaired. I am much happier now.Alternatively you just go without the plate in the front - many cars don’t have plates in the front when they’re supposed to.![]()
We live in the age of digital technology. How can we not have a better way to identify cars than license plates? So I did order the sto and show , not their fault but I hate the look, I'm just going to pay the beauty tax if I get ticketed
Yikes I was just about to potentially install this. How high are your speed bumps and how low is your car normally set at? lolI bought the Sto-N-Sho mount for my Macan 4 while awaiting the arrival of my license plates in Colorado. Mounting the base plate was a breeze and I thought the plate holder looked great when inserted into the plate mounted below the front diffuser by removing a couple of screws and using those holes to mount the base plate.
But wait, there's more. . . As many have pointed out this does decrease the clearance -- but no problem I can raise the suspension on this wonderful machine. Except when the suspension fails, as it did in my car. I lost suspension control from the CAR menu and this also erased the automatic raising of the car when going over my neighborhood's exceptionally high speed bumps. The negative result: a speed bump crushed the mounting tubes for the license plate holder. The positive result: it protected the bottom of the front diffuser from getting scratched!
Result: took to car to my Porsche dealer. They installed the standard front license plate holder and they fixed the software glitch that lost me my lift control.![]()
See picture of destroyed mounting bracket (if I can figure out to post it).

While this is true, it's a "fix-it" ticket. Mount the plate, get someone at the courthouse or police station to sign off that it's done, ticket is dismissed.Calif. law requires a front license plate.
if the only goal is to get the fix it ticket closed, you just need to use some 3m Command tape to hold the license plate holder onto the car long enough for them to see it and sign off, then drive away and remove it.While this is true, it's a "fix-it" ticket. I'm a little surprised there isn't a standard holder for the front, though. As-is, I'd have to drill through the panel (plastic?) on the nose, and the shape is not very amenable to good mounts...
There's also https://licenseplatewrap.com/
(Although 5 weeks for delivery is longer than the time you have to fix-it for the ticket ...)
How low was my car? No way to know because all the level displays had disappeared from the displays several days before this event and no adjustment of height was possible.Yikes I was just about to potentially install this. How high are your speed bumps and how low is your car normally set at? lol
