iPhone 12 Pro and Carplay Stopped Working

Hi All -

Tech support wasn't any help. "Reset PCM" - done, latest software on iPhone - done, reboot iPhone - done. The Carplay worked from delivery (Friday) until yesterday and now the Carplay on/off button at the top of the iPhone bluetooth connect is missing and is no longer showing as an option on the device in the PCM.

Using the tech in this car coming from a Tesla is making me second guess my decision - it's SO glitchy and inconsistent. My 2018 Macan wasn't perfect but it worked pretty consistently.

Any ideas?

I had this - but a PCM reset and an overnight wait seemed to sort it. Occasionally it doesn’t kick in but sticking a cable in seems to fix it for me.

My Q5 was just as glitchy with carplay

Remove the car from your CarPlay devices on your phone to ensure it does a new connection

Anyone else having this happen? It's happened again and customer tech service is not sure (they are researching). I've uninstalled all devices (iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro), Removed the Porsche from bluetooth devices on both phones, reset PCM - no change. Worked with USB-C connection but not wirelessly. Says "use CarPlay" when add device to PCM but toggle for CarPlay won't move to active position.

Had this happen to me yesterday. I did a reset by holding down the center volume knob for 30 seconds. After the reset it works again.

Had this for the last month. Took my car in to the dealer yesterday and they are none the wiser. I have it booked in with the service department but I’m not holding my breath on a permanent fix!

To the OP… did you by any chance rename the car’s network name? I did that after initially setting up CarPlay (successfully) and now cannot reconnect.

CarPlay worked for weeks, then didn’t. This fix worked for me. Removed and then I reconnected. Thx.

Hi, I had this issue with the tech when I received the car. I had to reset my iPhone 12's network settings. It worked and has been fine since (just under 3 weeks since I got it).

I’ve since found that changing from my user profile to a guest one I’ve set up, the. Back to mine again allows CarPlay to reconnect. Not ideal but a useful temp fix.

Hi, can you tell me more about what you did to reset you iPhone’s network settings? Like restarted phone, toggle airplane mode, or other.

I had lots of CarPlay problems where it worked during one drive cycle but not the next. If I switched to the Guest profile it would consistently work in it, and sometimes but not always in my personal profile after switching back.

All those issues went away after I deleted and recreated my Porsche profile. Haven’t had a problem for a couple of weeks, CarPlay works every time.

no phone is working? i am quite sure you have switched off something or there might be a problem with your profile. what happens when you connect with usb?

I’d double check that PCM is not set to connect to external WiFi networks — with that on my CarPlay connections are pretty unreliable. Must be a bug.
