Let's list the dealerships you know of which will sell the 2025 4Runner at MSRP price with no dealer markup. Here's the ones I know of...

Longo Toyota -- El Monte, CA
Elk Grove Toyota -- Elk Grove, CA
Toyota of Anaheim -- Anaheim, CA
Walnut Creek Toyota -- Walnut Creek, CA
I got my hybrid limited for MSRP.
Beach Cities -- Westminster, CA

Keep in mind that no one is obligated to pay any dealer markup. You'll just be sitting there, haggling for longer, until they decide to remove it from the bottom line.

From my experience it seems more common for dealers to have markups on TRD Pro or Trailhunter Trims, not the more readily available trims.

Who did you deal with and did they remove their paint protection add ons? I live right across the street from them and they are notorious for the 4k paint protection add ons. Last week I started looking at Tacoma's and was dealing direct with Marko. I told him I want those removed on a Tacoma and he also took off an additional 3,500 off MSRP on the Tacoma. Now that I switched to wanting to buy a 4Runner, I texted him 3 days ago and told him that I don't want any of those add ons and he's playing hard ball. I will see when one arrives.

I custom ordered my 4runner with Phillip Columna....the fleet manager. I picked out everything I wanted and he ordered it to my exact customs.
Philip is awesome!!!! Call him!!! But beforehand, go into toyota online and custom build what you want to familiarize yourself and the options. That was literally the price I payed. He will go to that site, custom build. It with you, start a file on you, and order it.....$5000 deposit.

$5000 Deposit seems wild to me. They had an allocation ready to go, otherwise you might be waiting a while... dealers don't really get to do "Custom" - You pretty much get what they get, so they might have you on a waiting list for a while to get what you want... Also, you sure they aren't going to pull a fast one on you when its time to pick it up?

You can only check for sure dealer markups by going to the dealer and seeing the car in person, most of them lie like crazy just to get you to the dealership. Then to find out a paint protection, theft insurance etc has been added

Dealers DO custom orders. I custom ordered mine. I wanted the Platinum but I could not deal with the blue interior. I sat down with the fleet manager and we built the Platinum using the body of the black leather interior hybrid Limited 4 wheel drive and built it with the Platinum specs inside and out. Only difference is mine says Limited instead of Platinum because of the body frame we used. The $5000 deposit prevented other dealerships from swipping it since the deposit labeled it as sold. When you custom order it, you receive the vin with a link from Toyota showing your custom build. Mine is definitely a one of a kind....and love it. Not sure why you feel $5000 is wild. My $5000 deposit went towards the purchase price from Toyota. I payed the balance when i picked it up. No mark ups.

Thanks for the info. I have a couple test drives lined up today. One is in the list of NO dealer mark ups and the other, Huntington Beach has the notorious 4995 paint protection BS. I told them I don’t want any of that PP and I got that glare. I can’t wait to see their look when I tell them I will go to a dealer that has 0 mark ups if they won’t work with me.

Can you post pictures? Platinum only comes in the Blue Leather AFAIK. Does yours have the Heads up Display? Does it have the Platinum specific dash?

Something isn’t adding up here and I’m wondering if your Dealership is screwing you here, ie. Sold you a limited and is passing it off as a Platinum and upcharging you as such … Cause they would be the only one I’ve ever heard of which is doing one-off custom orders, which Toyota and Lexus are not known to do… and the fact the 6th Gen 4Runner is in the infancy of its production, that makes it even more perplexing…

The $5000 is wild because most dealerships take $500-$1000 to reserve. Not sure who told you dealers can just take other dealers inventory, cause that’s not really a thing. Each dealer gets allocations, and they can trade them with other dealers, but they aren’t up for grabs by any means - so another dealer can just poach a car from another dealer… so while the $5000 goes to the purchase price… is $4000+ more than pretty much every other dealers take to reserve an allocation or put you on their waiting list.

I am actually out of state for the summer, and the car is at home.
I chose not add the heads up display since I find it very distracting and wouldn't use it. I also opted out of the automatic wipers....we get less than 6 inches of rain a year. My Lexus had it and had to make sure they were off before going through the weekly carwash....so I just kept them off.
They did not pass the vehicle off as a platinum. I did the research myself since I really wanted the Platinum but knew I'd love the outside but absolutely hate the blue leather. Mine does not say platinum on the back. Limited only has chrome letters but mine are all in black like the platinum....my exterior also has the black railing, rims and door handles with all the symbols/letters in black instead of the chrome. I did not do any modifications.
You are in Wisconsin...I'm in Orange County, California. $5000 to you is not the same for us. For example a retiring teacher in Wisconsin makes less than a 1st year teacher here....it's a relative to where one lives.
Can you send me pics of your insides since I can't send pics of mine? From the pics that I have googled, mine looks the same except I have black leather and black insides.
