OK, so sounds like you got a limited. The HUD is not an option for the Limited, it’s exclusive to the Platinum, same for the Blue Leather, the Unique Dash and Rain Sensing wipers - hence my confusion when you said you got a Platinum with different interior and then you said a custom Limited with Platinum features and that it’s one of a kind, etc.

In the end sounds like your dealer had an allocation available that luckily had the color and features you wanted, it’s not really custom. Dealers have limited say on what they can do with the allocations, usually PIO can be tweaked but other than that, they take what Toyota puts on the boat from Japan.

As for the $5000 - I don’t live in Wisconsin nor does that really even matter to the conversation at hand - nor does the statement “$5000 isn’t the same for me as it is for you” which comes across pretty condescending and weird. The point is most dealerships take $500 or $1000 for deposits to reserve an allocation or put you on the wait list… the $5000 is just an odd number for a dealer to request for a deposit is what’s wild. Being in a High cost of living area is completely irrelevant to that.

Here is the picture of the Platinum interior - The glovebox is blue and there is this fake black/metallic wood grain across the dash:

Besides the color, my insides are identical looking. I'm OCD with somethings and having everything blacked out on the outside with blue inside would have driven me nuts...no idea why they did that. So this is why even in my profile it says Limited....I custom built the limited to be like the Platinum inside and out except for the inside color and features I didn't want.

My guy has a buddy at the factory in Japan so he pulled many strings. My vehicle was the first hybrid to come to California. He was very proud.

$5000 deposit is not an odd number where I live. I was not trying to be condescending...I was trying to explain that deposits are relative to the area.

Sounds like we both love our Hybrid 4runners. I have yet to get the mpg
It's supposed to....maybe i need to break it in more. I'm dring standard mode. Any advice for better mpg?

Cedar Park Toyota in Cedar Park Texas didn't markup the vehicle but they cried and moaned about "rarity" when I tried to get them to come down off of MSRP. They wouldn't even reduce the useless "dealer prep" fees and wouldn't give me the $500 veterans rebate unless I financed with them. I don't call it a stealership for nothing.

When I took delivery, I had all my financing sorted out and didn't want to waste my time with dealer BS, but it was still a 3 hour process where they kept introducing me to people that wanted to nickel and dime (24k gold bullion) me.

When I got home, I took 3 showers cause of how gross the experience made me feel so, pretty standard. Hopefully I will never be back.

I found a dealer in Tustin, Ca who does the opposite of mark ups and let me remove any (soon to be installed at port) item up until the boat reaches port. I can also add any item that the port installs, so it’s basically a custom build while the truck I want, color, trim is in motion. They also don’t do any BS dealer mark ups. I called last night to see if they had a Sport Premium in Wind Chill Pearl and there first response was ”did someone send you a quote”. They sent me a quote this morning and she’s the first of many that gave me this info. I told her that I will refer some people to her, so PM and I will give you her details. I removed about $1500-1800 off the MSRP and so far only kept the OEM mud guards

This is great to hear about the discount, AND the customization. While most dealers can add / delete items as you just described, many are too lazy and either refuse, or try and charge you. Nice to see you found one of the good ones!

For sure, I found a good one and the same dealer I purchased my Tacoma from 11 years ago. I checked all incoming inventory at all dealers within 25 miles and this dealer showed nothing for 4Runners and was the only one that showed this. One of the other dealers 4 miles with the same trim had 8k of dealer add one. 6k was for upgraded Method wheels and tires. Funny that after the fact, today I asked another dealer that emailed me with the same truck if he can remove all port installed options prior to docking and he said that he hasn’t had any luck doing that lately. I was just playing with him to see what he would say and he flat out lied to me. Scum bags!

I got $1200 off MSRP on my ORP at Toyota San Luis Obispo. Really great dealership to work with, no markups, did not try to sneak anything into the deal, not pushy at all, highly recommended if you are nearby.

Toyota of Louisville, KY. We could not deal here in Florida, drove 944 miles for new OR-TRD-Premium, Everest. Paid MSRP and the options.
This was in March, did a source 1000 mile radius of our home in central Florida, dealer advised date of manufacture, name of the ship, arrival at Portland, VIN and approximate date to Louisville.

Let's list the dealerships you know of which will sell the 2025 4Runner at MSRP price with no dealer markup. Here's the ones I know of...

Longo Toyota -- El Monte, CA
Elk Grove Toyota -- Elk Grove, CA
Toyota of Anaheim -- Anaheim, CA
Walnut Creek Toyota -- Walnut Creek, CA
Add FREEMANS TOYOTA in SANTA ROSA CA to the list. Picked up a Platinum for MSRP.
