Hi all

Just wondering what other hobbies, if any, you guys have when you’re not driving your Porsche Taycan?

I’ll start the ball rolling with mine.......

I fly combat aircraft in VR, with friends all over the world. We fly on a Sunday night and are currently doing a WW2 coop campaign.

Great! No longer fly, but use to teach flying and fly a Pitts Special - my first experience with Porsche-like performance!

DCS?

I spend a lot of time in X-Plane pretending to fly about, talking to ATC (VATSIM). that sort of stuff. I have an Oculus Rift for VR but my PC struggles a bit with all of the scenery on.
I find the level of engagement required a nice distraction after a busy day. My wife thinks I'm nuts, obviously.

Hi all

Currently using the Index but patiently waiting for my G2 to arrive. I've tried most of them but preferred the Vives over the Oculus. Not necessarily better but felt they sturdier.

I do fly DCS but more of a piston prop fan so I mainly fly IL2.

@bootsie VR is coming to MS flight SIM 2020 this month. A couple of friends of mine fly cargo runs etc.
Oh, didn't know that. I've only spent a short time with MSFS2020 - it looks really nice (amazing scenery) but the flight model is a bit strange sometimes. I guess they'll sort it though, seems to be lots of progress.
Don't have IL2 (might have played it some years back) but do have DCS and a bunch of stuff I bought in the sales - A-10, F/A 18. Needs huge time investment to learn all of the systems though and I just haven't had much to spare lately.

You need to wait until you've retired to have time to fly the A10 ? I haven't flown it myself but I believe you need to spend a week or more, with the user manual, before even thinking about getting off the ground.

I volunteer as an Emergency Medical Technician in Connecticut. In addition to the ambulance, I am currently the only individual in the State who also rides an EMS motorcyle unit (Motto Guzzi) after completing a police motorcycle training program several years ago (most difficult thing I have done - much different than recreational motorcycle riding).

other hobbies

anything involving alcohol
good food

maybe these are not hobbies after all
This is exactly how I was thinking.

Also working on my older cars to keep them in good condition, DIY on our project of a house which is now almost finished, I mainly specialise in demolition and my Wife makes things look nice afterwards. Going for walks, Lake District etc, also trying to keep up a routine in the gym, skiing.

Pretty hard to follow the last post though!

Too many that I only remember but don't do... in a year like 2020, getting the business through Covid and keeping the family happy dominated everything.

But I like to tinker with these jets. They are not expensive and allow endless ways of setting them up differently, tuning them or trying new flying tricks. And repairing them after uncontrolled impacts is easy because the structure is made from foam :).

I have half a dozen foam aircraft and a couple balsa ones. Haven't flown them in about 4 years tho. All mine are WW1 and WW2 planes apart from my Cessna trainer.
I'd love to have the time to fly them tbh.
