I appreciate ClearWatt's efforts. I hope for the best for them.
ClearWatt's estimation method relies on a proprietary algorithm using proxy data correlated with the displayed data from the dashboard display. It might work. But there are also pretty standard test methods that are published, peer...
I actually knew that and assumed we had discussed it here. I knew because I tried to get the electric badge deleted for an order and was denied. Some people may remember that Porsche (at least my dealer) was advertising you could delete the badges for a while. And I tried to get all badges...
When I last looked for available tools a month ago, I was unable to buy one that looked at Macan EV battery health. I also asked a local Porsche shop and they told me they couldn't buy the tools. And I asked an EV specialist mechanic and they told me they didn't have access to anything. Do you...
The warranty on the battery is 8 years / 100,000 miles. So, I'm not super concerned about warranty litigation until 2034 (which might resolve in 2044 ;). But are we saying that 3rd party mechanics won't be allowed to look at battery health ever ... and that's ok? It's not OK with me.
I've lived...
My takeaway was: (1) the PCA presentation guy who answered the Q&A was a marketing guy; (2) the marketing guy was admitting on camera that there might be a DC fast charging scenario that leads to battery degradation; (3) this isn't the first time I've heard this from a Porsche representative...
I looked up the MSRP of the cost of the 2 yr, 4 yr, and 6 yr service plans and it isn't completely offensive on its face. So, I think you're right, there are limits to what is being replaced. I asked my sales guy to send me a full list of what they'll do in each service event for their packaged...
Many interesting tidbits in here. Including demo mode for the HUD through a USB port. A slide with efficiency estimates for each wheel type. Taycan GT specs.

I bet if 50 of us provided charge curves for a few weeks, I could build a parameterized model which more accurately predicted an actual charge time. I wonder how close it would be to just using my observed charge curves as the data to learn the function.
I'm thrilled for Walmart's commitment and I hope the installations happen faster than expected. I regularly use a Walmart / EA charger CCS 350 kW charger and I would love the option of a 400 kW Alpitronic at every Walmart to help power my current and future EVs.
My car is subject to the recall. Replacement of camera software and hardware.
I wonder if this partially explains why some of us think our backup camera is so bad.
Yes, most EA EVSE stations are not subject an 85% limit. I was at a station yesterday that is subject to an 85% limit and it let me charge past 85% and it appeared to be letting me go for 30 minutes. This is unusual but some of my friends have reported this happening on Volkswagen ID.4s (which...
It's funny. I almost never turn the car off immediately. I put it in park and then do stuff while the AC is running. But I have learned the defense mechanisms (brake hold, *look* at the dash to make certain it's in park, etc.) Yours is a new defense mechanism and a good add to the thread.
