When she last raced a Porsche at the track she beat a loud mouthed small minded man from New Jersey by 20 seconds and didn't really let him forget it. But I'm sure you're different. ;) I'm sure you're right that Porsche doesn't want to sell SUVs to women.

When she last raced a Porsche at the track she beat a loud mouthed small minded man from New Jersey by 20 seconds and didn't really let him forget it. But I'm sure you're different. ;) I'm sure you're right that Porsche doesn't want to sell SUVs to women.
I never questioned her driving skills nor made any sexist comment about the issue being her gender.

I pointed to the issue being “your partner”, as a person who, if I followed correctly, happens to be your wife.
I would have said the same thing about a man in this specific scenario.

Last but not least, I’m not from Jersey.

While I believe I was factually correct in my assessment, it seems you were wrong on all counts. ;)

It’s a shame, plenty accounts are owned by women here and I’ve never heard of any case of discrimination nor sexism against them.
We all seem to get along just fine and have fun interacting with one another.

They get to make up their own minds about whether they are cool with someone saying that I should get rid of my wife.

The summary of this discussion is:
(a) We've given Porsche $100k to try out its electric SUV.
(b) We're happy with the driving part.
(c) The charging part is too raw because it makes us believe the car is unsafe. But not because of the reasons that are obvious or believed by many people here. Because the way the car's systems work together is much worse than we can tolerate. Porsche, if you fix that, we'll give you another $150k.
(d) We are not asking people to take our word for it. We'll tell the stories to our friends and their daughters and let them experience it with our car.

I had something odd happen at Electrify America yesterday. I started a charging session using Plug & Charge, and it never got over 90 kWh. After ten minutes I got a charging error and was instructed to disconnect — this was the first time I’ve had that happen.

I then tried to start a new session and the authentication failed, so I authorized using the My Porsche app instead. This time I reached a peak of 140 kWh even though the car was at a higher SoC (around 60%).

Another odd thing was that EA started charging me towards the end of the session. I had set a countdown timer on my phone so I wouldn’t go over the 30 minute limit and got out of the car a couple of minutes before the time was up. When I looked at the charger screen I could see the amount not being $0.00 and going up. That amount is showing in the charging history of the My Porsche app but it hasn’t hit my credit card yet. ?‍♂

We saw this same behavior too in the last month. I'm not glad this happened to you too, but you're at least the 2nd person here to report seeing the EA system start accruing real cash in a separate charging session.

it's interesting to me that this thread's title and main topic was "poor charging speeds" - which is not Porsche's fault - but has now evolved apparently into a treatise against power charge port doors being the "main problem" and "poor location choices" for charging sites

to say this thread is no where near where it started - and covers a lot of ground - and maybe is even engaged in moving goal posts is an understatement…

there is 100% a problem here - but in reading the entire thread it's not Porsche, the Macan or the charging network…which is odd because those are common, factual, and easy targets.

good luck is about all one can say - but probably the "problem" will morph into something else before it's done…:facepalm:

Oh, power charge port doors aren't the main problem. A reasonable person asked us whether the power charge port doors made the car's systems even more unstable and less desirable in a public charging situation than choosing a manual charge port door. We are open to that consideration -- that the better configuration is manual charge port doors because we still don't understand the real cost/benefit of manual versus power charge port doors.

And, yes, the thread morphed from what I thought was my wife's concern about the erratic performance of the charging network into a discussion about the derivative effects of the charging networks, the car's behavior, and how that behavior makes her feel. That's been clear for a while.

I don't have to discuss the car's systems problems here. The west coast tech mom network has already replicated the problems we saw, is engaged in conversations about the flaws, and seems more interested in digging into issues with the car and discussing alternatives.

We got looped in while they were discussing tmrqs' post, so it's all good.

I'm on a road trip right now with my wife - Santa Cruz area to Olympic Peninsula - in Astoria tonight - so far so good on the fast charging - much improved vs my personal experience in Taycan from 2019-2023 era
  • charge curves have been good/appropriate
    • peak charge rate so far 265 kW in Astoria, OR
  • 30 min sessions have routinely provide at least 85% regardless of where I start - even if it's a 150 kW unit vs. 350 kW unit - and total charges so far for 4 charging sessions total less than $4 billed - given included/free 30 minute sessions
  • plug&charge has worked every time
  • power charge port doors present no issues
  • wife feels safe enough at charging locations to walk to bath room at local businesses by herself while I stare at my phone
  • range of the vehicle is as expected
sometimes things work…
sometimes they don't…

not sure where the problems are - but I have opinions…
  • we're on the more challenging route north via the California/Oregon coast - fewer charging stops more awkwardless placed in more remote locations
    • as recently as 2022 that route was too challenging for me personally in my Taycan going south - the past two days - it's been laughably trivial
  • more driving tomorrow - and then the long trip home sunday/monday
  • we're taking the I-5 south route home on sunday - which is easy peasy in terms of charging - you almost don't even need to plan anything along I-5 north/south in Wash/Oregon/California
we'll see if I can find any reason to have trouble with my Macan EV and charging - it seems I've been missing out…but some people just want to find problems and are easily put off.
