Why not use the PCM - it allows you to select your size/season, and based on current temps tells you what the target should be.
NJ right now - PCM tells me 36/39 for winter 21
2 Separate stations that I frequent. What strikes me as odd though is the battery didn't raise it's temp at all over 1.5h/70miles? It stuck to ambient.
This has happened many times and I'm not sure if I'm losing my mind or if it's a bug. In the US we get EA charging for 1y. From the PCM I select the fuel icon, select an EA charger, and then navigate there.
Tonight I had a 1.5h/70mile destination. Ambient is 52f. Battery is 52f. It never...
Weathertech have much higher sides that keep the slush etc out. Porsche is much more flat which leaks.
As you know weathertech for the ev still shows "coming soon" so just have to bite the bullet.
Great info - personally I do have battery saving enabled (80% and cool) but was not sure if this would impact heat at all? So dumb question, if the car is left for say 3 months outdoors in 0f, but plugged in, the battery will draw power to maintain a certain temp?
Duke95 - Curious what tires are you driving with?
Side question (and this thread is super helpful), does the car keep the battery warm under any conditions? Eg whenever I get into my car, even if overnight and it's been 32f, the battery temp is 52f, with nothing activated (pre climate etc).
If you're 75% it likely makes sense to go with the performance winter tire. That's not to say these won't handle snow at all, just perhaps not ideal if you're cutting through 10" of fresh snow. If the roads are generally clean, wider+performance IMO is a better and safer bet.
Rims I got were...
I'm in the tri-state area where the roads are generally ploughed etc. Id value dry traction/wider grip vs going through heavy snow/ice simply because it's not so much a thing where I drive.
If heavy snow/ice is more of a concern, then there's likely better tire choices than winter2/alpin5 as...
Bit the bullet and got the Porsche rims for winter - 21" with the winter2. Very happy with dry testing so far (5c, no snow/rain). Zero noise, no slip under full acceleration, comfortable ride. This is coming off 22 pzero corsa
Had the winter (v1) previously and they felt reasonable in the slush etc, but less that great in the dry, eg -5c on clear paved roads. The Alpin5s felt great in the slush and awesome in the dry.
Hoping winter (v2) along with the elec benefits (which may just be marketing...) work even better...
Trying to avoid this route - cost is high, and id rather go with this over the alpin5

Have emailed tirerack but no confirmation as of yet. Hopefully a simple update of their database to show compatible rims...
Trying to find rims - thinking of taking the Winter2 route. More modern tire with at least claimed EV design/enhancements over the Alpin5s. Alpins on previous ICE were great though.
Decisions decisions. Not loving the Porsche 20" rims. Did you get alpine 5 with them? They would have been my initial choice but the winter2 (a long with the model intended for EV) have got my interest.
Dying to know if a) resellers haven't updated their db for compatibility, or b) no one is...
Have been looking around at this and can't seem to find rims that work. Possible the ice macan rims are an option? Alpine5 and winter2 seem like a good choice of tire.
Worst case can get the OE 20" rims with (likely) alpine5, but it's like 6k delivered
As someone hunting around for this tirerack hasn't update for the Macan EV, or has rim stock (says Jan 2025)? Any other major supplier on top of it yet?
