Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an issue I experienced and see if anyone else has encountered something similar.

I have a 2025 Macan EV with about 10,000 miles. Last night the car was charging at home on AC using the included Porsche mobile charger connected to a NEMA 14-50 outlet. During the charging session, I received a notification from the Porsche app that charging was interrupted.

When I went to check the car, it was displaying multiple system and electrical errors. I let the car sit overnight, but the next morning the errors were still present and the car was not drivable:
  • Unable to shift into Drive or Reverse, only Park and Neutral
  • Multiple electrical systems not functioning properly (Electronic door mechanisms, interior lighting, etc…)
  • Charging still unavailable

The vehicle had to be towed to the Porsche service center.

One additional data point that may or may not be related: around the same time charging stopped, the NEMA 14-50 outlet had lost power. My building maintenance later noted that several breakers had tripped in the garage and needed to be reset. After power was restored, the outlet worked again, but the car did not recover and continued to show the same errors.

The car is currently at Porsche for diagnosis. I am curious if other Macan EV owners have experienced:
  • Charging interruptions followed by widespread electrical errors
  • Loss of Drive or Reverse selection
  • Power steering assist failures
  • Issues related to AC charging, power interruptions, or the 12V or DC-DC systems
It appears that there may have been a brief minor power outage in the garage of my building which caused charging to be interrupted, with the car being unable to recover. If this ends up being the case it’s extremely concerning - EVs must be able to recover from any kind of charging interruption. The possibility that my car was bricked due to this is a serious issue that makes me really worried about owning this car.

I will update the thread once the dealer provides more information. Any similar experiences or insights would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Update:

Dealer confirmed the issue is a Central High Voltage Box failure. Parts are coming from Germany, so due to the holidays they’re estimating mid to late January for the repair.

They did get me into an EV loaner, which I appreciate, but it’s a base RWD Macan EV vs my Macan 4S, so I’m definitely missing things like InnoDrive / active lane keeping.

Trying to stay patient, but being without my own car for weeks due to a major HV failure on a new vehicle is frustrating. Curious if anyone else has dealt with long repair timelines like this and whether Porsche offered any goodwill or support afterward.

Will keep the thread updated.

are you aware that a malfunction of the electrical system in your garage most likely caused the problem? ( at least I would insist that an electrical engineer have a look) you get the car repaired, get an other car. what more do you expect?

I would think the opposite is true, the onboard charger shorted and let the power trip in the building …
Chances of a building failure are way less then an onboard charger going bad.
Now if there is a known issue with the power lines that is another story, but those should be filtered out by the AC charger …
