Bose upgrade - no more boombox

Every Porsche forum seems to have number of threads about people being disappointed with the Bose sound system upgrade while not wanting to fork over another 4k for the Bermester. Fortunately these communities have found a way to close the gap or exceed what the factory offers. Since the Macan EV is a clean sheet it wasn’t clear how to apply the same logic to this vehicle. I was chatted with the guys at Rennspec.com regarding my 718 and they informed me that the same Bermester tweeter upgrade for the 718 should work with the Macan EV also - that got the ball rolling – then they recommended trying the same sub upgrade folks are using in the ICE Macan. I thought I might need a more powerful sub amp but the Bose amp does fine. Results were great with a spend of about $600.00. Please see attached for the details.

Thank you very much on the details of the equipment and on the install instructions. I'll certainly consider this... in particular with the sub-woofer / base unit, which on the Bose system is pretty thin.

Totally agree that the Bose “upgrade” is disappointing. Not sure I’m brave enough to do the tweeters though!

I don’t mind the twitters and mods on my Bose but the sub is really disappointing compared to my previous ICE Macan’s Bose. I’m going to get the sub you recommended.

Did you have to do anything other than replace the sub e.g. power, resistors or anything else?

The sub is super easy once you have the wiring harness - no resistor needed just a couple short pieces of speaker wire, once you cut two little locator taps on the box you just need to rotate the new woofer to align with the factory.screw locations. I only managed to get 4 holes to align but it’s solidly mounted. Best $250 you’ll ever spend
