2024 Porsche MacanEV, 2005 For Mustang convertible

We took delivery of our MavanEV in September 2024 (we pre-ordered, as soon as they started taking orders). We absolutely love it.

Just got back from our first long event horizon plane trip. I'd contacted Porsche to make sure what I needed to do to make sure we didn't have a brick when we got home. Porsche said that parking at 85% charge wouldn't be a problem, for 6 TO 9 weeks.

While it's recommended to hook up a trickle charger (like the one that came with the car; if you do that the car will be fine for an extended period).

However, my husband is frugal, and because he has volunteered for years and contributed immensely to our local airport, we have a sticker (we park for free, but without a trickle charger).

We left May 15, 20205 for a trip, and got back June 20, 20205. While the car was covered with soot (sitting in covered parking at the airport), it started just fine when we got back on the 19th.

So, I can personally say that a first production run of the 2024 Porsche Macan EV will handle 5 weeks and 1 day, sitting completely idle (when parked at about 85% charge). Obviously, your experience may vary.

Just sharing our experience. I still feel like we're all learning about this technology together.

Did I read over it, or didn’t you mention the state of charge on return? Did it just sit at 85% the whole time?

I’d be a little surprised if it lost more than a few percent. I’ve never had an EV drop more than 2-3% after sitting a month, would be a big step backward if it’s worse.

Pretty obvious at this point that I never owned a Tesla, I guess.

Mine's down 2% from 80% after a month and counting. I did check up on it a fair bit initially as it was having some Porsche attention and was moved a short distance to their long term parking. (Using the app to get an update activates the Big Battery each time, so isn't recommended).

So the 2% includes tinkering and short drive.

What was the approx weather temperature when you were away? I think there is still some concern about very hot or cold conditions effect on the batteries. One thread thought you should occasionally switch on the pre heat/ cool function to keep the 12V charged.

I looked like about 40 miles of range had expired - still very good I thought.

While were out, ambient temperature was in the 90-105 range. I was very happy with the minimal % lost.
