Is there any disadvantage to connecting the Macan to an available WiFi network?

I've connected my Macan to my home WiFi. Is there any reason not to do that (i.e. is there some other functionality that is lost of problem that is caused by doing this)?

Well, the advantage is that the car's cellular signal is very weak in my garage, and I was only able to download new apps after connecting to WiFi. I assume, even with a decent cellular signal, the limited native download rate can be mitigated by using the WiFi connection.

I just want to know if I'm disabling some other feature by connecting to WiFi, or maybe causing a problem if the car starts out from my garage with a WiFi connection and then loses it as I drive away.

I have activated Service Porsche Connect, but not yet the pack data.
So if I want to download apps or to stream video/music, I have to connect the car WiFi to my house router, or to my iPhone shared connexion.
When the WiFi is lost, I just lose app downloading/streaming…, but the rest related to Service Porsche Connect works perfectly.

So I don’t see any drawbacks for the usage you’ve mentioned: the car will automatically switch to the pack data when the WiFi is not available.

in north america there is a 15 gb high speed montly quota - after you download 15 gb you're apparnelty capp'd at 3 mbps for the remainder of the billing period - so if the car's on WiFi that's less of the 15 gb quota monthly…

I was just looking at that; unless I misread, the paid version (in the U.S. anyway) has the high-speed quota you describe; the "free" version I understood is limited to 3 mbps from the get go. No?

correct - WiFi will be faster than 3 mpbs - so it will just offload the data updates from cellular to the your home WiFi - not sure it will make a big difference, but again I see no reason to avoid using WiFi…it may not be any benefit, but I can't see how it would hurt anything.
