Piano black climate control: how will you protect it?

Screen protect done by the PPF installer. The matt film looks nice, and is smudge free.
He did these free of cost

has anyone else had any luck doing something similar to this in the US?

I’ve gone to 3 different PPF installers who have all told me they won’t touch it because they don’t want to damage anything even after showing them these pictures!

this one turned out awesome. Would love to get it replicated

Just to be clear, these were not PPF cut films, they were proper Screen Protector cut-outs like those sold by Suncoast and others etc.

oh! I didn’t know the ones they sold are matte finish.
Does that kit also come with the instrument display too? It didn’t look like it from their site

Suncoasts are NOT matte finish. And they do not include the driver display

I bought the ones from Suncoast Porsche and applied them. They are okay but not great. The ones over the climate control (front and back) look decent even though it’s almost impossible to remove the air bubbles or air lines from the edge around the volume knob or the edges. Since they do offer protection and those bubbles are not obvious unless you look closely, I’ll leave them on for now. However, I did not like the one for the center screen. It attached well but changed the transparency, specially when looking from the sides. You could tell there was plastic over the glass. It also made the edges of the center screen less black than the area to the right (I do not have a passenger screen). So I removed it. I would rather have nothing there! Just MHO.

I have no idea where the guy sourced these screen protects from, but they were a perfect fit, up to the edges, and of very good quality. And he had a choice of matte finish and gloss, both. I got matte finish.
And yes, he did instrument display too.
AliExpress is selling them too but don't think they are as good.

I am currently trying to make my own matte climate control protection, using the Suncoast product as a template, and for parts. That piece does Ok for coverage, but does nothing to stop blinding reflections from the sun.

If there was a pre-made matte protector available for that one piece, I would certainly ready to buy it.

Here’s what I’m testing out.

I like the fit of the suncoast provided climate cover, but not the reflections. As a trial, I have just taken that piece off the car and have sprayed it with Krylon Matte spray.

I used some cutoffs of the PCM pieces that I’m not using (the pack comes with 2 PCM parts and you choose one based on how many screens you have) to compare raw with the Satin and Matte sprays for safety - does it melt the plastic? - and sun glare.

I did get crud on the sticky side of the climate piece, so I might try cutting out a replacement from the remaining PCM sheet before spending on a new set.

Or they could have applied a oleophobic coating like Apple puts on their iPhone and iPad screens...

I just got some self adhesive, matte plastic sheets to try out. They looked good initially when I applied some test patches, but the next day they looked pretty terrible. I'm now trying a piece that covers the Suncoast sheet to see if it's a glue problem that having 2 layers might fix. The good news is that the matte did reduce reflections significantly.

I might need to bail on this and simply make a replacement Climate panel cover from the Suncoast remaining parts to protect the panel and live with the reflections.
