I'm scheduled to pick up my 4S in a couple of weeks and putting a checklist together. I reviewed this old thread, but hoping to hear about more recent experiences.

I'm buying it outright without financing, and the SA is telling me to bring a bank draft for the full amount. Sounds reasonable! But I'm a bit spooked since I lose leverage if there are issues and they've already been paid 100% before I've driven it off the lot. Here's what I'm thinking:

- Confirm the car has all the latest software updates (I've asked and haven't gotten an answer after a few days of waiting...)
- Get soft copies of all of the paperwork I'll need to sign and warranty options ahead of time. I do not want to have to blindly sign a bunch of stuff that I'm seeing for the first time or make any quick decisions when I get there.
- At pickup, do a full inspection, as per that previous thread. Get the My Porsche app connected.

Anything I'm missing? Any pitfalls people have experienced at pickup? Any other questions the SA should answer ahead of time?

Thank you!!
I was also anxious prior to picking up my turbo - and paying at the same time. I arranged to review the car and everything 4-5 days prior to planned delivery. Took me about an hour but was satisfied that there were no issues, and there have not been problems of any sort over the past 4 months. Good luck!

Thats a great idea to separate the deal from the inspection.

I think what you are seeing is the basic setup of using the Porsche app at a charging station, free or not. The dealer has to do something to activate the free year and he usually does that during delivery as the SA goes through the car and profile setup. .
Thanks. I did hear back from a member of the delivery team late last evening after I left a VM for them. They advise that I should go ahead and finish the process online (which I did.) He also believed that they have to do something to trigger the start of the clock on the free period during the delivery. We will see.

Another angle on the software updates is just to ask if all of the recalls have been implemented or if there are any outstanding recalls. The recalls will list any software updates
I received a call back fro the team ay PECLA that will be handling my delivery experience next week. I specifically asked if the car had the last software update and if the rear camera issue has been resolved (if it was even an issue on my car.) He basically told me that the delivery team would not be able to receive the car for the delivery experience until all recalls and/or issues have been resolved with the car. So I should be OK. Fingers crossed.

My SA said the same whilst I was putting the order in last week - any recalls or other “stops” on the system and they’re not allowed to give me the car. He says it happened for a couple of owners this month.

After reading this story about needing a software update pretty much right away, I wanted to get a straight answer from my SA about what software version my 4S is running on. He replied that they can’t release it without it being up to date but I’ve asked again to find out what it is. It’s a simple question and I’m insisting on getting an answer. Shouldn’t be that hard to find out.

Finally picked up my Oak Green 4S on Thursday. Thought I’d share my pickup experience since I had a bunch of questions going into it. Many thanks to peeps in this thread for their helpful advice. I’ve only driven in the city so far, but a couple of early comments: it’s terrifyingly easy to find myself quietly blowing past the speed limit, the rear axle steering is a joy, and I’m 10/10 happy so far. Will post more detailed thoughts after my first road trip later this summer.

Mine was a cash deal and the paperwork was minimal - the purchase agreement and vehicle history form. I asked to see the papers by email ahead of time and was surprised that the agreement said N/A in the Warranty field. And comically, the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council form that was attached to the agreement said the car was being sold “AS-IS” and is “not represented as being in roadworthy condition.” I knew that this was all boilerplate and that the car came with a warranty, but I’m pedantic and asked what gives. They confirmed by email that the car comes with a 4-year vehicle and 8-year battery warranty, and then showed me the warranty dates in their computer system at pickup. I didn’t opt for any of the additional warranties, but will probably get the extended vehicle warranty in 4 years.

The other thing I asked for ahead of pickup was confirmation of what software version the car was running. Although I heard (on this forum and from the SA) that they can’t release the car if there are any outstanding recalls, I thought asking for the software version was straightforward and reasonable. It turns out that practically every component in the car has its own indecipherable code and the list literally runs for pages. In the end, the SA showed me the Campaigns section for my VIN on the computer screen, which read “There are no campaigns for this vehicle.” That apparently means everything is up to date, and that was good enough for me.

The SA also printed everything in their internal system out for me, so I have a document that shows there are no outstanding campaigns, lists the warranties with start and end dates, the reams of software codes, and then a detailed list of everything I optioned (the purchase agreement only included a summary view). I’m happy to have this document as a record because it basically answers every question I had going into the pickup.

During orientation, we got CarPlay working and Plug and Charge set up in the Porsche app. I turned off all the driver assistance features as advised in this thread and then drove off!

All in all, pickup was perfect. But I’m happy that I asked the questions I did ahead of time and felt as prepared as possible before handing over the bank draft and signing the papers. After months of anticipation I am not disappointed and can’t wait to log some miles this summer.

Thanks!! I forgot to mention that I did a thorough inspection of the baby at the dealership and everything was immaculate and beautifully assembled. Everything looks and feels perfect so far.

I love how into the process even vehicle delivery you are, the passion is evident. Rest assured most of the time Porsche dealers are extremely competent if you know who to talk to for certain things.

A lot of the questions you had for ur sales dude is hard for the to answer because the process of talking to delivery staff and sales staff often don't have regular communication, so its out of norm for them to have to find out who exactly handling the final delivery process prior to presenting to you, and relay that information back to you. I would take the time to get to know the staff at the dealer, such as the service advisor and the tech assigned to the service advisor.
