Rear wiper never installed upon delivery

It rained for the first time in a while in California where I live and I used the wipers for the first time since getting the car. I noticed a scraping sound from the rear and noticed later that the actual wiper was never attached to the rear arm. I went back to my photos from when I first got my car, and it shows that it was never installed. I'm sure it's a simple enough job to add on the wiper, but just wondering if that is expected to just come without the wiper upon delivery. Just for clarity, the car does have the rear wiper option since it has the arm, but just missing the actual wiper component.

No it's not normal and there should obviously be a wiper provided.

My rear wiper blade actually fell off the first time I washed it as it clearly hadn't been seated correctly when built. Simple enough to reattach though and no problems since.

Called my local service center, and they said they would replace it for me since I mentioned I have a photo from the day of delivery that shows it wasn't there. It's a pretty inexpensive part/service compared to others so it doesn't seem to be a big deal, but good to know that it isn't normal to come without it.

Hope the wiper arm didn’t scratch your rear screen without the blade on it!

I would take a close look at the rear window to make sure it's not scratched. They may owe you more than a wiper blade.

When I noticed the scraping sound yesterday, I thankfully turned off the rear wiper after a couple turns. I don't see any scratches to the rear window after wiping it down with my microfiber cloth. The service center was able to install the wiper in 5 seconds, so I guess things are good.
