take the exit to go straight?

Just got a Macan EV. While navigating from NY to Boston, several time the nav would tell us to “exit” left (to stay on the interstate) when we pass a couple of exits on the right – didn’t happen all the time but enough that it was annoying. Never had this happen using google maps via carplay in other cars.

Oh, have had this all the time with Apple Maps, Volvo's built-in navigation (fro years ago), and Range Rovers built in nav. Can't speak to Google Maps, as I haven't used in years (since Apple Maps became reliable). As near as I can tell, it often happens when a state route joins the interstate for some number of miles, before meandering off again. Maps tend to treat these junctions as distinct changes in route (even if the physical road is unchanged). One of the very few annoyances left in electronic navigation at this point in time. In the early days, I can remember being routed off highways, only to get right back on, and similar foolishness. Feel for you, though. Navigation around Boston is tricky even if you have GPS, and know where you are going!

Hi, I can confirm even here in Quebec/Canada, Apple Maps would tell me to take an exit on the left, which is basically staying on the highway since there is no actual exit.

The issue was with the built in google-based NAV - Apple Maps via car play works fine. I wish there was a real Google Maps App for the PCM - I can run it via Carplay but it can’t put the map on the driver‘s display. I’ll like just stick with Apple Maps so I can have a consistent experience across all my cars.
