Yesterday I drove from the Netherlands to Austria. The first charging stop was the Porsche Charging Lounge Bingen. The Macan refused to charge. After about 4 attempts, it finally started charging. The next charging stop was Porsche Charging Lounge Leonberg near Stuttgart. Again, the car refused to charge. After 3 attempts, I locked the car and went to the toilet. Back at the car, I unlocked it again and charging started this time. I was starting to get quite anxious...
The next charging stop was Ionity at Lake Chiemsee, past Munich. Once again, the car refused to charge after several attempts. I locked the car again and 5 minutes later it was willing to charge. Now, yesterday on the way, I had continuously plugged an electric cool box into the 220V socket in the trunk. My wife said, "Could the cool box or the socket possibly be causing a short circuit?" Smart wife ;-) So today, without the cool box connected to the 220V, I drove to an 11kW and an Ionity fast charger here in Austria, and both times there was no problem and the car started charging normally. What the cause of the refusal to charge is remains a mystery. Hopefully, it will continue charging normally now.

Hi Frankie,

Had a similar problem with my Taycan, also during a long trip.
Last stop before arrival, the car refused to charge several times. I tried 2 other superchargers of different networks, same.
The "slow" port was OK so I topped enough to arrive at destination and could fully charge at the hotel.

Next day, after leaving the car "at rest", went to a supercharger and never had that issue again... dozens of charges until then.

When discussing with my dealership, they said the best thing to do is lock the car and let it cool down for 30 minutes or so. It forces the system to reboot on next start.

I understand this is a bit stressful, I hope it won't happen again.

This is great info for all who have the optional outlet in their cars. I have yet to use mine, but now know to unplug anything at charging stops. I don't know what the vintage of your car is but since you joined in 2024, I'm guessing it's either a 2024 or 2025. Have you applied the WSJ0 update?

My Macan is from January 2025. The WSJ0 update has not been performed yet. I deliberately did not have it done after consulting with the dealer, because I hadn't had a single error message until the charging problem last Sunday. Until last Sunday, the car was 100% error-free. And because some people were getting error messages precisely after the update, I deliberately didn't have the update performed yet.
