I've been driving Jaguar I-Pace now over 5 years. Time to find a worthy successor for it? Last year I drove quite many EV's, but none didn't make me want to change. I-Pace being a great driver's car with nice handling and good look. Only its tech isn't up today's standards with only 100kW charging speed. And it's near end of its production. So Macan 4 looks good alternative. It's about same size but 200kg heavier, same power (0,4s slower 0-100km/h due that) and I believe Porsche has managed to build nice handling in it. My only worry is comfort, how the seats are etc. If I order now, I can get Macan delivered in October. But first test drives available in July, so can't check if seat suitable for me. I've never driven any Porsche before, so no idea of how seats work in it. So what do you think, would I be fine if order without test drive? Done that once before, but it was Volvo and I had plenty of experience of different Volvos before. I'm 188cm/100kg (that's 6,2ft/220lbs) and near retitrement. So I like to drive SUV with high driving position.

You can do what I did. I went to the Porsche dealership and sat in the 14 way and 18 way front seats in the gas powered Macan. They are virtually the same at least for seat comfort.

Driving of course will be a different story, but if your main concern is seat comfort, thatā€™s what I would recommend

I have the Porsche Taycan on steel springs and get the Macan gas car for a loaner. Both cars are glued to the road. Very sporty suspension. You feel every undulation in the road.
I would recommend a lengthy test drive of any Porsche car before commiting to a purchase.

I owned an Macan and now since two years a Taycan. I think the seats in the previous Macan were a bit thicker, so there was some doubt about the Taycan. That was completely unnecessary. I have the 14 way adjustable ones and they are really great. Even long journeys to the south of France are comfortable. My posture is comparable with yours: 192 cm -100 kg (and retired). The 18 ways were no option because I thought they were, although adjustable, to tight at the sides. With our length the 14 way is a must, because you can extract the front to support your legs.

A week ago I ordered a Macan 4 with the 14 way adjustable seats, so that shows Iā€™m satisfied. The Taycan, although beautiful, becomes too low. You should try the seats of a Taycan before you decide. As far as I can see, they are similar tot the new Macan.
For the comfort I ordered the air suspension in the Taycan and for me a no brainer for the new Macan 4. I hope itā€™s even more smooth in the comfort setting, because of the two valves.

Just go and sit in some Porsches.
Doesnā€™t need to be a Macan EV.
They are all similar. And superb.

Even the base 8 way seats will be much more comfortable than the I pace.
You never get to try these because showroom cars are all up-specced.

They are ergonomically above all other manufacturers.
You donā€™t need to drive or sit in a Macan EV.
I have ordered one without seeing it or sitting in it.

If I change my mind I can get my Ā£3k deposit back. (I wonā€™t)

I have not specced my car yet because I donā€™t need to until I lock in my order.
In UK cars are in showroom March. I will see it then finalise my order. I donā€™t need to drive it but I will because I can have a demo for a day so I will.

Already in march Ross? Thatā€™s quicker than in the Netherlands. Iā€™m curious about your impression, but youā€™ll no doubt write about it.

I specked a lot on my car, but I have my doubts about the 21ā€ Macan Design wheels. They look very nice (on my Taycan I have the 20ā€ Aeroā€™s) but may be less comfortable than 20ā€ rims.
Last month I tried a new Cayenne with 22ā€ and they bounced, so for me the smaller the better. But, like you wrote in another thread, the 20ā€ Turboā€™s are not available on the Macan 4. The standard 20ā€ are far to ugly and look like propellors. So once again Porsche leaves you no choice: if you want comfort and 20ā€, buy the Turboā€¦
A compensation for not being able to drive the car and decide then, should be that Porsche allows you to switch if necessary.

# MjrPaine: your worry is comfort, so youā€™ll have to answer the same question: 20ā€ or 21ā€.

That's what the dealer said. We shall see

You know me too well.

I dont mind them - Much nicer than Taycan 19' Frisbee wheel trims and most Taycan 20' wheels,
and some Taycan 21' wheels

You can always buy a set of Turbo 20s with winter tyres

Thanks for your input. I took the leap of faith and ordered blue Macan 4 with advanced plus packet and some functional extras.
