I’ve decided this is the next car for me but of all the downsides - the back legroom really disappointed me (especially given the length of the car) although im 6ft 2 (188cm), I forgot to check what type of seats my knees were almost pressing against and whether all the 3 seat versions all had hard plastic backs? What are the skinnier seats?
Any help would very much really appreciated, thanks

I drove my friends new model Y the other day and it was comical how much more leg room in the rear there was even though the size of the car was comparable. Car was nice although That thing felt like driving a boat on turns tho compared with the Macan lol

Rear seating room is a lot more generous on the Model Y. More leg room as well as flatter butt seating for 3 people.
as for the seats, I don’t see the difference in the rear from the 18 or 14 way. Visually, the 18 is bigger from the rear. My wife has the 18 way in chalk leather and this loaner I have has the 14 way in all black leather.

Yeah, but Tesla designs the seats with very short bases, both in the front and back. I’m 189 cm tall, and in my 2021 Model 3, longer trips were really uncomfortable. When I tested the new Model Y, the seat felt so short that I was almost sliding off. The seat base just isn’t deep enough for people with long legs.

there is no practical difference - if rear leg room is a priority consider something other than the macan/taycn - both have only mediocre rear passenger space

Yeh whilst it’s disappointing, it’s not a top priority for me, other more practical ev options have their disadvantages and this car seems to be in its own league

im told optioning the 18 way does impact the back passengers in terms of view with bigger bolstering , so will be skipping that and saving some pennies for other options

I prefer the 14 ways anyways - cause you can now tick the "massage" option and that's a huge feature for me personally - and rules out the 18 ways most of the time for me personally.

Agreed massage seats is something I use and enjoy every day.
