  1. A Question For All Current, Future or Thinking About Becoming a Macan EV Owner

BMW definitely doesn't have it all figured out. My iX seems to "forget" my iPhone for CarPlay every other time I drive it. The iPhone still shows the BMW in Settings | General | CarPlay, but the iX doesn't show any paired phones. I basically have to repair it each time that happens. Though...
  2. A Question For All Current, Future or Thinking About Becoming a Macan EV Owner

I'm not sure how I'd make that decision, because of a few things: We don't know if this is a software problem or a hardware problem (could be bad connectors, bad motherboard, bad RAM, or even a bad voltage regulator somewhere in the system). Hopefully it's a hardware problem so they just have...
  3. USA Import Duty

To some extent it could, but the amount depends on how much the tariffs depress new car sales.
  4. Cannot open boot anymore

Hmm, with my prior EVs that usually means the 12v battery is dying / not being charged.
  5. Cannot open boot anymore

Definitely let us know what they find. I'm guessing a loose connector to the mechanical release motor / solenoid.
  6. Optional S5 Tracker- Powered by Vodafone

The main disadvantage of Tile is the tracking network only consists of the phones that run the Tile app (and explicitly grant it permission to always run in the background), vs. Apple's tracking network of almost every iOS device, or Google's network of most Android phones in the past few OS...
  7. Assistance Systems Error - Speed Limit Display (warning message)

The amount of errors coming through really makes me wonder if one of the wiring harnesses has a problem.
  8. USA Import Duty

Tariffs are assessed when the item hits US customs, which is at the US port of entry. If Trump puts in new tariffs on 1/20, effective 1/21, then any car that hasn't cleared customs at that point would be subject to it. That's why the Monroney Sticker isn't generated until the car clears...
  9. US Porsche PMC+ Tripping GFCI Breaker on 120v outlet

Couldn't have been doing 5kw, because that would be 41.7 amps pulled at 120V. At most, if it was a 20A rated circuit, it could have done 2.4kw.
  10. Does your PCM set the clock correctly after DST change last weekend?

Wow, yep, last changed in 1996. So if it's using a timezone file that old there will be a lot of problems in the US as well.
  11. Does your PCM set the clock correctly after DST change last weekend?

It could be that it doesn't have the correct timezone data for the location, especially if the time change day was recently (last few years) changed). Similar would happen on Linux if someone doesn't update the tzdata package.
  12. Standard Matrix vs US Spec HD Matrix Headlight Range

US DOT does allowed full matrix headlights for the last year or 2, but so far no manufacturer has decided to go through the hassle of modifying and getting their Euro spec system certified for the US (DOT, in their infinite wisdom, decided to have much more stringent timing constraints than what...
  13. 1 week with Macan EV Turbo coming from Tesla Model S... wow what a difference

I found the motion sickness was due to the adaptive braking. Once I turned that off it was fine. But I am looking forward to switching to the Macan EV next year. The test drive was so much better than my iX.
  14. What's the order / delivery status of your Macan EV? [Update your status if/when it changes]

I found out the hard way that modifying an order, even removing something that isn't actually build into the car, and push the lock and delivery dates back when it is submitted. Just a heads up to others that it could happen.
  15. The actual offroad ground clearance?

It took a while to read it all (60 pages in that thread), but there are at least 3 people that had it happen to them in that thread, with claimed knowledge of at least 2 others.
  16. Side airbags in rear compartment – optional extra

I'm just going based on what the Audi dealer told me when I ordered my 2012 A6, the Jaguar dealer told me when I ordered my 2019 i-Pace, and the BMW dealer told me when I ordered by 2022 iX. Each time when I spec'ed the car to order they said I shouldn't get it if we had or we're planning to...
  17. Side airbags in rear compartment – optional extra

I think I wasn't clear. Having them is the safety concern if you have small children. It's the same reason you aren't supposed to put a car seat in the front, which is that the airbags are dangerous when combined with car seats.
  18. Side airbags in rear compartment – optional extra

It's a safety concern if you put a car seat in the back seat. If you get it's generally recommended to only put a car seat in the middle of the back.
  19. Compass intermittent function

Is it usually the first X minutes after starting the car when it had been off for an extended period? If so it could be it has to recalibrate the compass for some reason and needs you to drive in circles a few times (doing donuts would work). :)
  20. Has anyone tried the automatic parking function?

I definitely don't care much about the self parking. What I wish it did have is the ability to use the app to back the car in and out of a spot while you're not in the car. Very useful for a tight garage or if some a**hat parks so close to your car you can't open the door (I've had to do that...
