Uneventful trip Belgium France
- 1008 km
- 9h53 driven of which 30 minutes traffic jam, average speed 102km/h
- 5 charge stops
- 24.9kwh/100km

-18 minutes charged during lunch
-16 minutes charge to have 30% remaining at destination
- 14, 8, 7 minutes

Same trip 2 years ago in the iX 120 minutes of charging … worse driving conditions with rain so not a 1-1 comparable situation but still …

Thats pretty cool and to add some co context on how all this evolves - I’m currently driving a Taycan J1.2 with performance battery pack and its CRAZY how it charges compared to Macans. It starts above 300kw well below battery temps that are optimal for Macan (fast charging window is way wider) and it holds over 200kw easily to 80%.

I charged 10-80 on 400kw charger and did not have enough time to use restroom and buy coffee.

All and all such EVs are ready for long trips.

iX3 should also be a great roadtripper.

It depends on the perspective, I find the stops already are more then fast enough it is 2x faster then my iX and in some cases “to fast” per stop, my friend however that did not complain 2 years ago when we drove the iX was now like next year we take my 540 Ice, guess the divide in society has set in and so my answer was, we will not drive together anymore if you want to drive, I cannot stand an ICE car anymore and I like driving my EV so much, way more then ICE and sold my V6 … but I do respect each point of view … but it definitely has driven a divide between us … so probably I will need to adjust my frame of reference, but it will be difficult.
Faster EV charging is always a nice bonus, but the reality is that on busy days the charging stations will not be able to give that insane power to each and every car, so efficiency and the 100% initial range are also important …

Little background on IONITY experience

Out of the 5 charges on my 1008km trip I had 3 IONITY as I planned the trip with the app I could force IONITY as preferred stations in the App, but while driving we took slightly different route and the recalculating in car did not follow the IONITY part, a missed opportunity Porsche!

I had zero problems at the none IONOTY points, at IONITY I had to move stalls, 2 defective polls at one stop, did need to skip one stop As it was out of order, luckily indicated so we took one before and after and plug and charge did not work in France … so I can say IONITY sucks even when not in high season … Porsche/BMW/Mercedes get your act together …
