What determines the driver profiles? Are the settings stored in the keys, in the phone, or a combination of both? We're facing the same issue in our 2023 Taycan 4S TC. We've never been able to figure out what actually defines the driver-specific profile settings (in both the Macan EV and Taycan).

If I’m the primary user and my wife is a co-user, then when I approach the car (with comfort access), I see the doors unlock — but already from outside I can tell that the seat hasn't moved to my position. When I check the user shown in the PCM menu, it says it's me. So why is the seat in the wrong position? Sometimes the seat/mirrors/etc. are correct, sometimes they’re not — and it's really frustrating. It can’t be that every single time I enter the car, I have to manually press the memory button on the door just to get my settings.

And then the phone/profile settings: if my phone is set as the primary device in my profile, why does my wife’s phone still connect via Bluetooth in the Macan when it rings? In that situation, if my phone rings, I’m forced to talk holding it up to my ear — which is illegal — because her phone has taken over the Macan's Bluetooth.

Even in a 20-year-old BMW, the key defined the driver profile, and it worked perfectly. Now with Porsche, we have this clunky main/co-user system that's activated through email logins and so on — and yet it’s one of the worst implementations in the entire automotive industry.

Its a combination of key and whichever profile you have logged in with. So primary id with key 1 - store all settings, power off, close doors and lock. Present second key and log in with secondary id and repeat the procedure. Works on my Macan, Taycan and 911 so Macan EV should be no different.

Best keep both keys separate and one out of range whilst you perform the assignments.

The Macan EV and potentially the Taycan J1.2 (J1.1 doesn't have this) further refine this where you can assign a main user explicitly so review that section of the manual.

In our Panamera, the keys were clearly linked to individual users, which worked well. But in both the Taycan and the new Macan EV, the system is honestly pretty terrible — we've noticed it in everyday use. We've had newer models from Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and Volkswagen, and in all of them the user profile management is miles ahead of what Porsche currently offers

Funny, never had an issue with any of my Porsches k. This feature which includes a Panamera ST - they all work the same way so once familiar with the product the rest is a breeze.

My wife and I are somewhat frustrated by this same issue. Will read through the responses so far to see if we can find a remedy.

I believe this is also related to the Secondary user being able to (or not able to) use Plug and Charge and have it revert to the free charging account of the Primary user. Will Plug and Charge work, and will it be part of the free charging, if my wife needs to charge at EA and I am not physically with her? Our SA could not assure us that would be the case.

My son is now driving the Taycan alone, so there's only the main user profile — no others... no issues

Porsche Charging Service is linked to the car rather than the person via VIN and a valid digital certificate as far as I'm aware - you'll already have the certificate installed in the PCM given you have charged at EA previously.

Check that the secondary user account has all the permissions needed too.

Same issues for us. I'm the secondary use and anytime I go into the charging section in the phone app, it tells me I'm not authorized.

Fortunately Plug&Charge is working well and I don't need the app, but eventually I need to get it working. The instructions are crap.

Today, once again, my wife and I were on the move (she’s the primary user). Only she had her own keys with her. The seat had to be adjusted manually again to her settings — even though in the PCM, I was listed as the active user? While driving, I switched the user to her, the system rebooted. I have an Android phone, she has an Apple. So which Macan did the system choose... mine with Android? I checked which phone was prioritized in her profile, and it was Apple, yet my phone was still the dominant one.

Can a system get any worse? The 2023 Taycan was just as bad!
