Yesterday, we were charging our car at an Electrify America charger in Southern California. Great experience - witnessed 265 KW peak, and plug and charge worked perfectly.

The reason for this post - while we were charging, a beautiful, shiny new Macan EV pulled into a spot to charge. About 5 minutes later, the driver came over to ask for our help as she couldn't get the charger to work. Turns out, when she collected the car that day, the dealership didn't:
a) make sure she had the MyPorsche app on her phone,
b) had a plug and charge certificate registered for her,
c) explain how to charge without a plug and charge certificate.
Basically, they sent her on her way with a brand new EV and she had no idea how to charge her car. Admittedly, she should have been more proactive, but shame on the dealership as she was almost in tears.

So, we got the MyPorsche downloaded on her phone. Got her logged in (phew!). There was no plug and charge certificate linked to her account, but we used the workaround to find the charge station where she was parked and manually authorized the connection. If we hadn't been there, I'm not sure what would have happened as it does take some familiarity with MyPorsche to do this if plug and charge isn't working. I guess the credit card option is the backup.

My advice for future owners - do not leave the dealership without MyPorsche on your phone. If the dealer can't get the plug and charge certificate ready (it happens and can be challenging), make sure you know how to use the manual charge station start up on the MyPorsche App. Alternatively, be prepared to rely on the kindness of strangers, we are out there:).

Good advice. I had to go back to the dealer to get plug and charge to work.

This is a problem for all new EV owners, IMHO. No one teaches you how to use a public charger.

My Macan 4 S is just ready to collect, dealer called me 5 min ago, but I received via mail ca 3 days ago from Porsche a mail plenty of links of videos from Porsche about ,charging, the app (I've the app since 2019 when I bought the Panamera) and a lot of description about the car it self.
