Easy way to toggle between normal regen(recuperation)/coasting without binding to steering wheel diamond button?

In the recently posted PCA video thread, the presenter mentions that not only does the car limit regeneration when new to permit brake bedding in, but also from time to time depending on friction brake usage (or I suppose, lack of usage.) That's the first I've heard of that but might be consistent with people's experiences of inconsistent brake regen?

Doesn’t work 100% of the time when I lightly or even strongly press on brake while coasting. Again not sure how wide spread it is but others have confirmed the same so it’s not just me. So to be clear when it doesn’t work and I’m coasting I get 0 regen since braking doesn’t work and letting off the accelerator pedal doesn’t either.
Brand new Turbo here. I noticed that regen works when letting off the accelerator pedal but I get 0 regen while braking. This is probably normal for new cars. From the manual
"Bedding in and cleaning brakes
The vehicle has a braking recuperation system that feeds some of the braking energy back into the high-voltage battery. In order to bed in the wheel brake, the recuperation system is deactivated briefly on new vehicles or after changing the brake pads, which reduces the range. To support brake cleaning, recuperation is deactivated for a short time depending on the downtime, driving mode, and weather conditions. The recuperation system is then activated again automatically."

There's been a few more seasoned owners who has experienced this well after the supposed "bed in" period so pretty sure its not that .... generally speaking. Yours may be though so you shouldn't jump to any conclusions. Congrats on the car and hope your other issues are resolved quickly.
