Now when people state/repeat incorrect information, when that is misleading
Repeating RAS is “not necessary” is not incorrect information, or misleading.
It's an option.

One could argue that all options are not necessary, we're trying to help people decide what will work for them. Not sure if they're still around though 😅

None of these are necessary for a transportation appliance as the base Macan is pretty good..
Exactly.
None of these are necessary, or one's opinion of having or not having is 'incorrect or misleading' about it.
That was my point. Thanks.

I think it's 3 feet. I make use of the reduced turning circle virtually every drive (I have to back out and turn around in limited space when I leave my garage). It just adds to the joy/ease of driving the car. I don't have a basis for determining the impact when driving at speed, other than to say the Macan drives great on the highway.
Try a Macan EV without RAS - 3' seems optimistic (its only 1' with the Taycan which has less degree of turn).

Another "test" would be 2 identical cars except one with RAS and one without.

Maneuvering would be a give away but on the road not so much.

Glad you have a daily use for it..

I apologize if it wasn't clear: my point was never about whether it is necessary, a must have or nice to have.

It is about:
1) "it is not necessary on the Macan because it is a SMALL car"
2) "it doesn't make sense on a Macan (SMALL) but makes sense on a Taycan (LARGE)"

That size piece is factually wrong and not a personal opinion.
That goes for what the SA and W1NGE said, which were both incorrect.

Both cars have the same wheelbase and the Macan has a significantly smaller turn radius than the Taycan when both have RWS.

Facts cannot (shouldn't) be misconstrued. As far as opinions go, we all have them, no issue with that. :)

I told myself I would remain casual but comparing RWS to PTV+ is not fair. You're going to have the need for PTV+ only in super specific conditions where you're taking the car close to the limit.
Your right, RWS is probably more useful everyday that PTV+. I was just saying, as an example, that when specing a handling performance oriented Macan both are "necessary".

Otherwise I'm told that with RTV+ is superior on snowy/slippery/icy roads and driveways than without. Another specific condition but not unusual for some of us.

I've read here that RTV+ gives a superior "solid" feel when driving off and on ramps. Helpful when the turning radius surprises you. I'm told by the SA, a knowledgeable guy thats been selling and driving Porsches for a couple decades, that just about everyone that specs RWS for performance also specs PTV+. For maneuvering not so much.

No worries at all 😀 In the Turbo, PTV+ is included so I didn't have to make this decision this time.

I remember reading forums when I bought the GTS and was unsure about PTV+. Not unlike here, the opinions ranged between "it's the most life-changing event I've experienced" and "I don't understand why anyone would spend any money on this".

True that; opinions vary! The best/only way for a perspective buyer to know for sure is to test drive both with RWS and without. I did, and the RWS sold itself, not real close. The sales guy was surprised at my opinion. Ok, see above. Your Mileage may vary...

glad I spec'd mine... it was never about the turning circle or parking... it was about driving and handling...

I feel your pain - I have gone from being able to perfectly reverse park my previous longer and wider e-Tron sportback, to looking like a learner driver reversing the Macan lol The RWS has made such a difference. It's also much tighter on the Macan than the Taycan, which my husband realised when he drove my car the other day as opposed to his which also has RWS. I will get used to it, but it's certainly taking a while (and several attempts lol).

I noticed the other day that the guide lines for the camera view actually show the angle the rear of the car is going to go when I'm pulling forward, which makes it easier to see if you're likely to clip a corner accidentally when forgetting the turning circle is so much smaller.

Although it's taking some getting used to, it's a brilliant option. The lane I live on has a really tight bend back on yourself from the main road, plus the entrance to my driveway is also a hair pin, which I can now get round in one go rather than having to take two runs up to it. U-turns are also much easier which is handy for high traffic roads.
