And by the way - the alignment problems that return after 2-3k kms and cause the car to drive unlike any Porsche should... TWO SEPARATE DEALERS after the alignment was not successful told me "yeah, these cars drive like that, you have to get used to it".

I've also reported this to Porsche because 1) this is a crazy message for a Porsche dealer and 2) suggests they know it's an issue with more clients and are clueless as to how to fix it.

Overall this is the most disappointing aspect of this purchase and had I known it could be an issue I would not buy this car. This is the reason I plan on going back to Taycan as several (but not all) loaners I've had also had this problem. Also from what I hear this problem does not affect the Turbo model, only base, 4 and 4s.
Apparently solved for MY26. Would test drive once available. I have taken the gamble for first production batch of Cayenne EV. What can possibly go wrong :CWL:

Exactly. It’s not just a sound — it feels as if the car is losing traction. Sometimes it’s a bang, like someone hitting the underside of the car with a hammer.

My questions are:
  1. If this is not a defect, then why don’t newer Macans have this issue?
  2. Why wasn’t I informed about this when buying the car?
So far, I haven’t had any problems with the wheel alignment.

Of course, I also have other issues — like noisy pillars, or the key fobs’ batteries draining every three weeks for the last half-year. And I’ve had to prove in all sorts of strange ways that the batteries really are draining.

And which service centers did you go to?

Brave ;) I would not take this gamble after what I experienced with an early Macan ;)

Good luck. My idea is to switch for a Taycan, it's a much more matured platform. I drove the first gen and after this Macan was next level in terms of PCM, efficiency etc but the newest gen of Taycan is on pair at the moment if not better.

Agree, really liked the Taycan 4s with push to pass. Was driving it for almost 3 month. No problems at all. Just too small for me.

So there is some update in this thread. I picked up my Macan yesterday after another attempt at the suspension thing. There is a new guidance from Porsche to change the torque of some suspension elements from recommended 80NM to 100-120NM. It affected the suspension in a positive way and I have to say the cracking sound is not as annoying as before. Newer Macans should have this done at the factory. It's not a sure thing but it's an attempt and shows they are looking for solutions.

Thanks Tomek, I‘ll mail this to my dealer in the Netherlands.

Hi

I have been following this discussion on the creaking / cracking noise from the suspension, my 4s is making a noise slowing down to stop signs, rough roadway or speed bumps. It was cold here this morning and did not seem as loud or often.

I need to take the car in for the rear camera and rear wheel steering recall.

I was wondering if you have a specific service bulletin or tech note regarding the revised torque number with specifics. It would be nice to reference a specific document if possible.

I have also heard a noise from the rear that is very similar sounding.

I need to add aside from this noise the car has been great and I really enjoy driving it.

Tomek - Thank you for continuing to post the details on this subject

Sorry I don't, will ask for more details next week.

Good afternoon Tomek,
My dealer asked the same thing: “Is there perhaps a number or the term TI/SY on the forum?” This is apparently the name for a work instruction from Porsche AG if a solution is registered for something.

OK I'll ask.

Sorry in advance for the long post, but I wanted to provide full context.

I brought my Macan 4 to a Porsche Dealer to have the same problem check out.

Initially, the dealer said they could not duplicate the issue. A few days later, I stopped by again and went on a road test with a different technician because the main technician working on my car was not available. During that road test, the technician clearly heard and felt the knocking noise on every speed bump we went over. He was surprised by it and told me he would inform the main technician and see how they could fix it.

Almost two weeks later, the service advisor texted me saying that the technician road-tested the vehicle again (with the same technician who rode with me) but was unable to duplicate the noise, and that they had to close the repair order due to not having enough evidence to proceed with a repair.

I replied asking if I could make an appointment to road test the car with the main technician, explaining that the problem is very consistent and that the previous technician experienced it with me. The advisor then responded that they needed the loaner vehicle back, that they were unable to duplicate the issue, and that they had already “invested a lot of time into the vehicle.” They said we would need to reschedule in about two weeks and do another road test at that time.

What really bothers me is the comment about them having invested a lot of time into my car and using that as part of the reason to close the repair order and take back the loaner, even though the original issue hasn’t been resolved and was previously acknowledged by a technician.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Porsche dealer? Is this normal handling, and how would you suggest responding or escalating this?

I feel for you having the same experience.

At first, they weren't able to reproduce the issue - it only occurs when braking just before hitting a bump. If you drive over them without braking, you might not notice it at all.

After this explanation they reproduced it with almost ever car on the lot (but not all of them).

It’s related to PASM, and Porsche claims it’s not a fault - which doesn’t add up, considering it only affects some cars. Interestingly, you can hear it on Taycans as well, but it’s faint and barely noticeable there.

In my case it's not only sound but you can feel something hitting the car from below.

No solution for it as of yet and I wouldn't hold my breath.
