Hi
Just received my Macan 4 1 week ago & looking forward "how to use Tesla SuC" (used only home charger so far)
So I downloaded the Tesla App
Linked my account with my chargeMap card
So everything looks fine on that side

I went to a SuC, battery about 45% remaining
I plugged first in the macan
Then went to the TESLA app, selected the ID of the SuC
App told me it can last up to 2 minutes before it starts
But, about 30 secs after that, I got a message on my phone, from "My Porsche" App telling me the charging was not possible, but AC charging is however still OK

Am I doing something wrong ?
I'll try again tomorrow, on another SuC of that location
and last resort, I'll try another totally different high capacity charger, with badging system.

If anyone had already such experience & sorted it out... I am curious to hear from !

Sounds like you did it fine. Only query did the charger show up as open to all? If it showed in the app it would be but if you just drove to one possibly not. Not all Tesla chargers are open but I thought most on continent were and it was only IK where all the popular ones are Tesla only

hi John; first of all thanks for quickly responding.
the SuC is an "open" one; found in chargemap & I see other brands than Tesla charging there as well (BYD, Renault, Opel, ...)
maybe bad luck on that SuC, maybe a broken one. Don't know

You are not doing anything wrong. I did the same in France and it worked.

Although Tesla SuC are normally quit reliable sometimes one doesn't work, even if you hook up a Tesla (speaking from experience).

I believe (developer thinking) that the macan & the SuC initiate a first communication, even if the app didn't told yet to the SuC about the charging request.
In my case, it looked like the macan was expecting something, and nothing happened on the SuC side, so it decided to just go to "timeout" kind of stuff.

next time I'll try the opposite way :
  1. unplug the cable from the SuC,
  2. NOT put it yet in the car, keep in hand
  3. ask the Tesla App for charging (choosing the SuC)
  4. wait a bit / wait a message on the app or a "beep" at the SuC
  5. then plug in the car.

seems finally to be indeed kind of timeout raised by the macan, because Tesla SuC is not responding fast enough
using tesla app with a regular credit card, instead of the chargeMap Pass as payment method, the tesla SuC reacts quicker (about 30 secs). And when I then plug in the macan or just couple of secs before app response, it is fine immediately. Did it twice, it worked flawless.

I had this problem yesterday too. I first connected the Tesla plug, selected the charging station in the app and then got the error message that fast charging did not work and that AC charging was possible. To find out whether it was the Tesla charging station or a problem with the car, I immediately drove to a Shell fast charging station. Worked fine. Immediately afterwards to a JOLT fast charger. Also worked fine.

I think I also made the mistake of first plugging in the Tesla plug and then starting the app, selecting the charging station and then charging. This may take too long for the car, which caused the charging error to appear. It is possible that the car is trying to communicate with the charging station (white light is on at the charging port) and that the communication is not going ahead because I have not yet selected a charging station in the app because it takes quite some time to go through this. I will try again today.

Yesterday I went to the Tesla SuC again. Did as described above but just like yesterday no response. Then reversed the procedure. First plugged in the car, started the app, selected a charging station. Got the message that it could take 2 minutes for the charging session to start but it started charging after about 10 seconds.

I currently prefer charging at Tesla because with a subscription of € 100 per year you can charge your car for € 0.29 per kWh instead of € 0.39 per kWh.
