Hi there,

Thought I'd share some research for anyone searching in the future. We've been on the search for a dog crate that fits in the rear boot / trunk of our new Macan. Previously we've used the 4Pets Pro range, but the Size 2, Medium we had does not quite fit in the sloped back of the new Macan.

From trying a few different options, the new Thule Allax Small looks to be the largest crate you can get that fits behind the seats and is safely clear under the sloping rear glass. So far our muddy spaniel seems pretty happy! Can be put to one side of the boot to leave space for luggage next to it.

Cheers

Totally agree, definitely an expensive solution to the problem! But Porsche's own version for the Macan is another 25-30% more, inflatable, and takes up the full width of the boot. Thankfully roofbox.co.uk had a slightly cheaper price for the Allax.

At least it keeps a muddy spaniel away from the leather and carpet :)

If you don’t use the back seats much, I’ve found that using the ability to make their backs more vertical gives you a little extra space high up where the glass slope is the worst.

The manual page on Seats shows this about half way down

Good idea! Did not know that the back seat could be set in a vertical position. I have a German pointer…

Hello Bruyne,

We also have a German pointer, female and 25kg. Could you find a good solution for yours ? Just ordered a Macan and already looking for the best option. We live in the Ardennes and muddy walks happen a lot...
This Thule crate looks great but I believe the S size is too small.

Well finally we opted for a protection on the back seat, there are different providers, such as pelsbarn or trixie. She is les nervous than she was in the trunk of the IX3. For the moment we are good with an old children Duvet (edredon). I may look for something else such as trixie offers. Don’t buy something cheap on internet, lot of bad reviews. I have a ceramic coating and ppf on the painted part in the back entrance because she jumps in but after the run she crawls in..

That's exactly what I do with my current car (Taycan).

Works well but I end up leaving the protection in place pretty much all the time, quite annoying.

For the Macan, I'm really looking after a solution in the trunk. This is for short drives and it works fine for the dog in a Toyota Yaris ;-) A regular protection is ok and easy to find but a crate would be even more practical... but I'm afraid a decently sized crate would not fit.

Will do more research and I'll post my findings here
