I took delivery of a new Macan EV on November 2nd. On the drive home, the dash display shut off and rebooted 5 times (it is a 2 hour drive from the dealer). I thought it was something like downloading updates and automatically rebooting, at the time. It seemed to work okay for several days after that, but 6 days later, it would not start to drive home from work. After 8 tries, it booted up in some sort of limp home mode, with alerts that most features would not work. It was towed back to the dealer that night.
The dealer did not decide what the problem was for 24 days. They claim to have been looking at it daily and getting guidance on what to try next from "corporate", since the issue was electronic. What they may not have considered is that the My Porsche app shows the battery, locks and windows state. Based on that, I noticed the battery did not drop at all until they had it at their shop for 6 days. Most days, the doors stayed locked and battery did not drain. During the 30 days it took to diagnose the problem, there was only a battery drain at all on 4 days.
They eventually determined it was a failed computer (the one that runs the display and some other functions) and it would take "several weeks" to get one from Germany. I am wondering if this sort of major defect is common for a new Macan EV and whether other forum members think I should accept it back after it is "repaired" or this is an indication of a fatally defective vehicle that will never run reliably.
