Yes for non-preferred partners, but it is after 6h where many blocking charges apply after only 2h normally, it does warn you also when charging.

For preferred (=IONITY or Porsche places), no blocking charge.

That’s 6 hours on AC. DC is 1 hour.

I've never got my car to charge on Ionity !! It works ok with gridserve and even Tesla

I stopped at IONITY 350kW at Peterborough Services on the A1 - it was as simple as plagging the car in and it self-authorised. I didn't have to do anything in the app or the car!

The car also got the max charging speed that the battery could take - I had put the charging stop in the planner, so the car pre-conditioned the battery ready for fast charging:

As the battery charged, the rate slowed, as expected (although I noticed it fell slightly outside the optimal charging window):

Although the regular battery charge target is set at 80%, I had to manually stop at 81%. That took 17 mins; energy from charger 48.31kWh, so an average of ~169kWh.

With a 95kWh usable battery, my estimation was the battery took ~43.7kW, so ~10% lost in charging. However, should I be using the gross battery - 100kWh: battery took 46.0kW, only 5% lost in charging process?

I recently took delivery of a Macan 4S, and it comes with the Porsche charging services included for 3Y. This service provides:

• Unified authorisation via the car/Porsche app
• Aitomatic payment
• Discounted rates. which seem unified across Porsche partners

It seems brilliant, and I wasn't expecting that from the pre-sales discussions - weird the dealers don't mention it more.

I have only briefly checked how competitive the rates are, Ultrafast for example:

• Porsche dealerships and Ionity 350kW, £0.39/kWh
• Others like Gridserve 360kW, Osprey, BP Pulse, £0.59/kWh
• AC charging £0.39/£0.44/kWh

Checking BP Pulse directly, with subscription, is slightly more expensive £0.63-0.74/kWh, so it appears that Porsche have competive rates.

I have used the service only once, in app approval to start charging, and it worked seamlessly.

Thoughts/experiences?

I recommend using the Porsche key holder with a chip in it. Just add the number in your Porsche charging credit card you get and you are ready to charge the car by contact of the chip with the charger. No apps and no credit cards needed.

As mentioned one post above, I used IONITY this week, it was plug-and-play, the car did self-authorisation, other than plug in the charging cable, I had to do nothing at all: no app, no key fob, no action in car. It just started charging!
