I cut and scanned the small instruction booklet that came with the Porsche NACS DC Adapter we received recently- and attached it in case anybody wants one.

Very nice - thank you. If people just want the "bottom line" it's this: Attach the adapter first to the charger cable end then plug everything into the vehicle.

Even though the instructions say to plug in the car first, and then take the steps to start the charge (that is, use the Tesla app), I have found that it is better to trigger the charge in the Tesla app first, and then plug in.

YMMV

Thank you for taking the time to scan and share. I'm still waiting for my adapter

Vanjwilson is right. First, tee up using the Tesla app, select which charger you’ll be using (e.g.,, 1A, 4C, etc.) and only then, when instructed by the Tesla app, plug the adapter onto the Tesla nozzle and insert into the Porsche’s charge port. By not following these steps in sequence, we got a lock-in that lasted for TWO HOURS. Only way to release the damn nozzle from the beloved Macan 4 was to hang around Royal Farms and wait for 45 minutes or so!

Thanks for all this info. I have my adapter and excited to use it on a trip- I was able to setup account in Tesla app and a tip in case others do not realize- you can pre-save not only your payment info but also your non-Tesla vehicle.

I've done it both ways in my Mach-E. It seems to give you roughly 2 minutes to complete the process by plugging in once you activate the charge in the app. So you need to be pretty ready to plug in (adapter in hand, charge door open - which can be a chore in the Macan with the finicky power charge door).

Although there's a similar time-out if you plug in first. Seems to have around 2 minutes to activate the charge after plugging in. So either way you wanna have everything ready to go (phone in hand, open to Porsche app on the page for that charger, or the Tesla app if using it instead).

None of it is especially difficult, but it all gets much cleaner and easier when they get Plug&Charge working for Superchargers.

Taking a road trip from Las Cruces, NM to Scottsdale, AZ this coming Thursday. Received my Tesla Adaptor and hoping it will lessen charging anxiety since I have so few charging stations in my state and region and have my own lack of EV experience. Do I use the Plug Share app. or Tesla app. or Porsche app or all three? Yikes! Help!

You can use either of those.

If you’re using PlugShare make sure you tell it that you have a NACS adapter, enable the Tesla Supercharger network, and hide Tesla-only stations.

If you’re using the My Porsche app, on the Charging map click on the Layer icon and enable NACS.

I don’t have the Tesla app so I can’t help you there, but I know it’s also able to display stations that are open to non-Tesla vehicles.

There's a few reports this week of people that found Plug & Charge working at Superchargers now. So I'd try just plugging in first and seeing if it automatically starts charging (make sure Plug&Charge is toggled on in your car's Charging tile).

If that doesn't work, next simplest would be to start the session in the Porsche app. You presumably already have a credit card registered in your Porsche app.

The Tesla app works too, but you have to set up a Tesla account and register a credit card if you want to do it that way. The only significant advantage to doing that is if you want to pay the $12.99 for a month of membership discount (drops the price at each station by roughly 25%). If you had a really long trip where you expected to do many SC charges, that's probably worth it. But your distance is kinda borderline for that.

FWIW, we've driven that stretch before using EA and had no problems. It's typical EA... you might find a broken charger and have to slide over to the next one, but for the most part it's fine. And depending on when you bought your Macan, FREE! (1 year free EA charging included) Plug&Charge works at EA too. Personally, we use EA first, and only SC as a backup.
