Radar Detector - Mirror Tap Install

Has anyone successfully done a mirror tap for a radar detector?
I’ve read the threads on the dashcam install but everyone is running to the fuse box.
I’d like to avoid running the cable through the headliner, A-pillars, door trim, etc.

I did: got a cable just a few inches long from the Uniden R8 to the power source by the mirror.

Looks like a clean install!
Do you recall which wire was the 12v power source and which wire was the ground? Would you be able to send a picture?

I do not recall, did this a while back: just used a multimeter to check voltage and then used this cable - it took just a few minutes honestly.

If no one else volunteers until then, I can try to remove the cover above the mirror to take a pic in a few days.

Appreciate any help you can provide. I just tried to take the plastic covers off and already broke two tabs so I’m going to stop there. If you can take some photos in the next few days that would be awesome.

Ok, figured out how to remove the plastic shrouds.
for anyone wondering - the black / white wire is the 12v and switched from ignition. The ground is the brown wire.

Hey, thanks for the picture. Made it super simple to install a Redline 360C. Got some of the plastic pry tools from Amazon and was able to readily release the console at the split. Easy again to remove the back half of the mirror mount cover. Pushed in the cable two pins and taped them in place for good measure. Reversed the procedure to put the mirror mount cover and console back up.

I also have the heated windshield, so have to mount the Redline high up in the cutout on the left side. The hinge point of the suction cup that came with it sits too far down the windshield, so I 3D-printed a small flat with ears that the original hinge bolt goes through. Velcroed the piece to the windshield, so I can remove it anytime. Good to go. Thanks again!
