Mate - absolutely blown away with the detail and write-up for the following. Am sure this post will help a great number of people who are thinking of DIY’ing and want an alternative to the Porsche Dashcam.

Thanks again! 🏆

I just got around to installing the fitcamx into my macan ev using the porsche factory dashcam prewire connection. While I was researching for this I didn't see a proper write up for the macan ev, the post about the '25 cayenne on rennlist was useful, while also misleading.

I noticed mine records when it’s charging. I tried playing with the settings without any luck. I tied into the rain sensor for power. Not a huge deal so I just pop the card out when charging.

Thanks for the guide! Feeling dumb but stuck on step 2 - I can't seem to 'feel' the spring switch for the main overhead console. I only have the pry tool that came in the box from Fitcamx, maybe it doesn't reach far enough?

shouldn't be that, its not that far in. the plastic one is more flexible, so you might have to push harder, but it should still work. my only guess is that you are maybe going in too shallow and hitting the rim below the switch. a large Flathead screwdriver might work, or a blunt butter knife

Great write up. I installed just the front camera and tapped into the rain sensor. The image quality is not great but better than I expected. I like how stealth it is. I did add the polarizing filter after the fact and found it helps with the glare and the reflection off the windshield.
Second this, the filter makes a pretty noticeable difference to the video, both front and rear. It also is quite aesthetically pleasing, it gives the appearance of the dashcam having fancy optics, and given where it's mounted it is quite visible. Well worth it just for the style points alone. It's kind of crazy they don't include these with the dashcam, it's a no brainer option.

I will say however, order the correct part direct from amazon. I ordered via their website, which only has a generic listing for polarizing filter, just like the fitcamx itself, and you tell them what you want before they ship. Well I did this, specifically gave them the filter model from the amazon listing above. They instead sent a generic flat filter that did not fit at all, and they gave me a pretty hard time about sending out the correct one. They did end up making it right, but it was far more of a headache than it should have been.
