just checking in - delivered Nov. 15th, 2024 - promptly driven home 2700 miles from ATL to Santa Cruz, CA

issues so far:
  • discovered documented that North American Macan's are capped at 9.6 kW maximum L2 charge rate - not sure if this is a "Mistake" or by "design"
    • no response from Porsche to inquiries so far
  • warranty issue: front windshield washer jets are poorly aimed - barely hit the windshield - will request resolution if I take it in for any other reason - not worth a trip by itself
  • minor software glitches consistent with other Porsche vehicle's - but based on limited experience "fewer" vs. other Porsche's I own
    • nothing so far that persists for any amount of time
  • one visible software update received in that youTube now works in the vehicle - this was not true at delivery time
  • wife like the car and is happy to get in it or any of our other Porsche's - this was not true of the Taycan who's lower seating entry position did not agree with her
  • normal "efficiency" for range seems to be inline with Porsche's claims - 3.2 miles/kWh is "easy" - but it's also been colder than normal in California - I'm looking forward to spring/summer numbers
  • plug&charge is working
  • supercharging is not working - but I'm looking forward to the future
so far so good - really no issues to speak of with this particular unit from Leipzig - I'm happy so far

my "feeling" is this car isn't as successful as people wanted it to be - but honestly I feel it's a 100% unfair evaluation and this is a great car that people should be loving and eating it up…not sure what to make of that.

knock-on-wood this is has been a mostly painless purchase so far.

The washer jets were a menace for me on this ski trip, LOL.

You know, it's funny. The car is excellent but I'm in the group of a bit disappointed in it. The range is not what I think it should be, especially when we see updated Taycans doing much better. That really spoils it for me.

220-230 miles in flat highway 35 degrees is only marginally better than my 2021 Taycan 4S. That doesn't feel like progress.

I haven't had any major issues and I like a ton about it, but I am a bit disappointed.

I guess “Disappointment” probably means different things to different people. Sure, I was “disappointed” that my Cayenne Turbo S did not get 20 mpg on the highway, but that did absolutely nothing to diminish my enjoyment or affinity for the vehicle.

I might feel differently if the Macan were my only car, but for short trips around town and within 100 mile radius, IMHO it’s the best EV you can buy today.

Had been meaning to post about the washer jets, they annoy the shit out of me. 1/2 of the water stream goes straight down driver/passenger windows. Which then leaves streaks mixed with grime. Awesome.

We are at 4,742 miles to date after also picking up our Macan turbo electric at PEC ATL and driving to Portland, Oregon - just a few more miles than you, daveo4EV.

Love turbo and our experience driving it across the US during the bomb cyclone showed just how stable and strong this vehicle is. It is however, second to our 2020 Taycan Turbo S when I want to drive it like a sport car. Love and intend to keep both vehicles.

So far, only one failure:
  • After we arrived home (4,000 miles) the driver side charging port automatic door failed to lift up the DC port flap and broke part of the flap hinge by repeatedly ramming it before I could shut it off. The repair includes an entire charging connector, not simply changing a 20-cent part. :( I anticipate a long part delivery time.
