[Victory] - let's chalk up a "win" for once…North American Supercharger access

forums by their nature spend a lot of time discussing "room for improvement" - so I'd like to call out a recent "small victory" with big implications

in the better late than never category Porsche's roll out, and addition of the Tesla Supercharger network has been well done…

this is regardless of if you ever intend to use it and prefer 800V FastDC chargers…

Porsche's technical support, integration, and seamless charging experience surprised me in a good way!

• the prosche charging service integration is world class
• the billing is seamless
• the adapter is high quality and one of the best on the market
• they exceeded expectations by "including" it for existing owners
• and their eventual support for plug&charge simply blew me away and exceeded my low expectations

even if you don't plan to ever use a supercharger Porsche did _NOT_ disappoint with their integration/adoption of this extra EV charging network into the Porsche eco-system…

the _ONLY_ small complaint that can be leveled at them is the time it took to do it from Oct. of 2024 2023?…but honestly I'm personally not going to hold that against them.

let's roll one out and toast to Porsche getting this one right!! They did a great job here and exceeded my expectations…

I'm going to give them this one!!! They sorely need a non-motorsports win right now on the consumer front!

the Cayenne EV, Taycan, and Macan EV is a much much stronger product offering now with this situation sorted and resovled!

kudo's to Porsche!!! I was worried they would figure out a way to screw this up or only do the bare minimum - but no they hit it out of the park!!!

they get an unqualified "win" in my book for how well they did this complex integration!

the _ONLY_ small complaint that can be leveled at them is the time it took to do it from Oct. of 2024 2023?…but honestly I'm personally not going to hold that against them.

I'm sure that a significant portion of that delay is due to Tesla's slow-walking the opening of their charging network to other vehicle brands. They did that slowly one brand at a time with significant gaps in between, something I can't blame them for.

This is good news, particularly as a Canadian travelling in the United States. The disappointment for me is that our included free charging with Electrify Canada does not work on Electrify America. If Porche is truly Porche North America then this service should have been included.

Our Porsche adapter doesn't work. Fortunately I was carrying my Ford adapter from our previous Mach-E on the last 2 trips.

A have been meaning to try it at a local SC one more time just to confirm, before contacting Porsche for a replacement.

I believe you get two years of free charging on Electrify Canada though while the US gets one year.

And even that is gone for 2026…

As pretty much the last major automaker to get onboard, I would certainly hope they'd be able to get right what everyone else did before them. Yes, it works like it should. Cool. The fact that was even a concern is a bit concerning in itself.

But yes, good that they were able to replicated what others have done before them. (And to be fair, that late timeline may have been as much Tesla's choice than VW/Audi/Porsche's).

Plug&Charge is great, but sadly, until Tesla (and EA) either drop their membership discounts and level all pricing to a reasonable midpoint, or a deal is made to pass membership discounts through to other EV manufacturers for P&C use, it's still frustratingly unusable if you DCFC enough to sign up for a discount plan.
