The thing is, one of our Chinese based members on here previously said that the new BMW designs divides opinion over there as well.
Who's buying them?
Interesting - I'm guessing those that focus on software function (probably quite good) over (external) form!

I mean...its not like BMW hasn't created a couple or 3 terrible designs in their past.

Have you seen the new M2? That’s another wtf moment when I saw the original leaks. I love how the BMW forum people kept saying leaks look bad they look much better in production and IRL. Then the car was officially revealed and it looks exactly the same as leak but they started saying wow looks so much better! Really?

Yes I used to like BMW, and I still frequent bimmerpost. We’ve owned a few BMWs in the past but I guess I am just getting old now.

This is the chief designer.

I noticed he has got a Stone Island jumper on.

Hope he's not focussing too much on the end of season footy, instead of designing cars.

It’s no X6M, but it is a looker ?

Honestly screw BMW. I was actually gonna consider a new M4 the last gen then they released *that* grill. They really need to take a hard look at how much they’re ruining their brand

I can't believe how bad BMW have got some things recently, but this is a new low.

And according to the reviews, it's as bad as it looks.

Come on BMW. We used to love your cars.
An ICE! :puke:

I just test drove the new i3:

Electric Macan EV BMW XM. What are they thinking? 1679458799618

Looks like a regular 3 series, but this is the L (long?) version.

Adaptive headlights with automatic high beam control.

Solid cover for fast DC charging back right.

Same for AC charging front left.

My golf bag fits easily. Space slightly bigger than my Taycan.

Cup holder big enough.

All physical buttons, no touch button garbage like in the Mercedes.

Electric Macan EV BMW XM. What are they thinking? 20230321_153903

Fully automatic adjustable seats. Physical buttons only!

Electric Macan EV BMW XM. What are they thinking? 20230321_153814

Good easy accessible space with USB C.

Backseats buttons for AC control. The tunnel in the middle is lower than in an ICE.

Electric Macan EV BMW XM. What are they thinking? 20230321_153950

Full battery on the brand new car shows 565 km range. Quite optimistic, to say the least.

Test drive car, not so new anymore, 91% SoC only 257km range. That should be on the low side.

The car I drove did not have the new "Automated Driving Assistance System Pro (including Traffic Jam Assist)".

Why am I posting this. Because it is the first electric car I drove after my Taycan with got me excited. If you press the Sport mode button, it is almost as punchy as my MS90D/Taycan 4S. It is certainly lighter than my Taycan so the road feel is different. This is clearly by far the best BMW I have ever extensively driven, including (2X, 3, 3X, 5, 5X, 7).

Considering the price of my Taycan 1400k RMB (203k USD), and this BMW fully loaded 360k RMB (52k USD), I would find it too hard to justify the Taycan again. But also, if you are in the market for such sized EV. The new i3 on the new architecture coming out, could be really good.

Wow that front definitely looks better than the i4. I wonder if BMW learned their lesson and is shrinking the grills back to something more normal.
