Hello fellow forum members.

I think I speak for all of us when I say that this forum is a truly valuable resource as we either contemplate the configuration/purchase of a Macan EV or get answers to questions about the purchases we've made. That said, this value can be hard to fully realize when we are presented with conflicting answers to a particular question. To be clear, I mean no condemnation in this statement. Sometimes the question being asked really is a matter of opinion (e.g., does the carbon fiber interior detailing look good with the Truffle Brown leather?). In all cases, I do believe that everyone is trying to be helpful in offering their take on things.

For questions that are less a matter of opinion and more about the technical details of how these machines are engineered to operate, I think it's helpful to have objective resources to which we can turn. In this regards, I've found the Porsche Newsroom a particularly helpful resource—in particular the section on the Macan EV. While there may still be room for debate on plenty of issues discussed in the articles it contains, I do think it can help cut through the fog of conflicting information. I provide the link below for those of you who are not familiar with it. Happy reading!

I wouldn't disagree, if it were authoritative. But I checked just this second, and it still says this: "AC charging at up to 11 kW is possible at standard household wall boxes." (No asterisk for North America).

What's wrong with that statement?

In UK you would need a 3 phase supply to get 11kW and obviously your EVSE would be required to rated at this or higher.

So "up to" is accurate to my mind.

For US I guess you would need the equivalent power source - 80A or so.

Useful for sure but be wary that these articles are rarely updated or corrected when software patches are applied as was the case with the Taycan.

The entire rulebook on Range drive mode changed folling a major software upgrade. Originally, on AWD models the rear motor would be powered off and drive was performed by the front motor only this then changed to be the rear motor and the front one engaged but offering little drive.

I'll grant that it may not always be accurate, but I'd argue that it is as authoritative as it gets. If Porsche cannot be considered the authority on info about Porsche vehicles, who can?

That said, I get your point. As noted, there is still room for debate on many issues. It would be lovely if Porsche updated things as needed, but I think these articles are really meant to be "press-kit" resources associated with product introductions.

Thank you LivinTheDream. While I had earlier seen some of the official Porsche Macan EV newsroom releases, some I had missed. Nice also for that site to have detailed specs on all four current models.
