I’ve had my Macan 4 almost 3 months and it’s easily the best car I’ve ever owned. It’s a joy to drive and has made me forget about my old ICE Macan GTS. I love the range - even with frigid Canadian temperatures, I can still get ~400km on the highway and living with a premium electric vehicle like this is easy. The build quality is excellent.

That being said, there do seem to be some proverbial gremlins in the software. I’ve had multiple instances where I get assistance systems errors at random points. Everything from the emergency breaking to the front parking sensor to the speed limit detector. Often, they all go off at once and seem to self correct in anywhere from minutes to weeks. Once, my right speakers went silent for two days as well.

It’s currently at the dealership getting diagnosed. Hopeful a software update will correct things 🤞🏽.

That's always the concern with new car models, especially EVs. I can't think of one that's launched without a string of software issues.

Question. Have you had the actual automatic braking happen or just the warning flash/beep on the dash?

Just warning lights, no inappropriate driving maneuvers

I have these EXACT issues!!! Loads of warnings for assistance systems which have been down for a couple of weeks now. Plus no speakers on the right side of the car.

Now, although the left speakers work for navigation (Porsche Only), I have no sound for ANY speakers for Radio, Bluetooth, Carplay or PCM Apps like YouTube/Spotify/Amazon Music etc.

The soonest the dealer can get me to look at it is March!!

They have said they have never seen this which must clearly be a lie if you have it. Would be REALLY keen to know whats causing it and how you fixed it. I've tried the PCM soft reset, but having gone through so many factory resets to try and correct the Plug and Charge issue (which only go sorted via Porsche Germany getting involved when it was at the dealers to sort), I really don't want to have to go through all that again. Especially with the known issues of getting carplay working again post reset... NIGHTMARE!

I have noticed that ice or snow will block the sensors and trigger all kind of errors all at once.

Yes, it occured just after the coldest night we had had in the UK since i got the car on 31st December... Dealer said this would be the issue... But the problem has remained, even through a detailer cleaning the car.

My issues went away after the snow melted and has not returned. I assume the next snow can trigger it again.

weather has not been a factor in the errors I’m mentioning. They have happened in clear weather as well. That was the first thing that came to mind but I also wash my car multiple times a week so it’s not a blocked/dirty sensor either. The errors do seem to self correct over the course of minutes or days. Thankfully, the speaker issue self corrected in under a couple of days and has not returned. The random Assistance systems errors have been recurrent.

My dealer is going to keep the vehicle for three or four days. Their initial communication with me said they noted over 300 errors in their software investigation of my vehicle

(I can't account for multiple reports of the right speakers going out.)

The below is pure ignorant speculation, I admit. But seeing how the errors appear and subsequently clear in my car, and the many other similar reports on this forum, I doubt that for most of us this is a hardware issue. My uninformed guess is that the software is periodically going through a sensor check, and is too sensitive (conservative) when it gets an error back, basically behaving as if all sensors are bad. One thing that is very interesting to me is that, at least in my car, the first warning in the set says that the situation is temporary. This says to me that the programmers were aware of the possibility of false positive warnings, but the design parameters were for worst-case scenario behavior. Now that the cars are out in the wild, it has become evident that this is not optimal program design.

Meaning that a software tweak could certainly help.

Yeah, I used to get the temporary ones... These ones are permanent though. Pain in the ass as no Cruise Control or innodrive and no help with parking... Cameras still work most of the time though.

One other thing... In my ICE Macan if you got close to something at the front, regardless of whether you had recently engaged Reverse gear the sensors would pick something up. With my E Macan, the front sensors ONLY become active if I engage Reverse first to bring up the cameras etc. They WILL NOT function at all otherwise which has resulted in some very close calls when parking front ways in a space. Interested in whether this is just my car or something odd with the Electric Macans.

I have gotten front sensor warnings pulling forward into my garage or parking spaces (not having gone into Reverse). I haven't noticed if the warning has failed to appear when I would expect one.

Likewise. The proximity sensors go off and the camera turns on pulling forwards into my garage.

So, these systems are weird. I was getting all sorts of software issues in my Rivian (assistance system failure, persistently unavailable cruise control, emergency braking unexpectedly, sensor errors constantly, etc..)

Turned out the Air Suspension had a loose hose and was failing. This caused the various assistance systems sensing something was wrong with the car and refusing to operate or getting bad operation. Instead of telling me the air suspension was bad, they just flashed their own errors.

Once the air suspension was fixed every error disappeared. These systems are all so tied together that it could be something else triggering the problems. Even something very minor (it was literally just a loose air suspension connection that did it in my R1S.)

Definitely an issue then! Will add it to the list...
