OEM Dashcam (front & back) installed - parking mode

Folks,

I just had the OEM dashcams installed today. To enter into “parking” mode I had to further configure the cameras and the Taycan forum helped with the directions for the factory/dealer configuration (as the parking mode is not configurable on the normal app settings).

The front cam quality is amazing (the Porsche Dashcam app is beyond cr@p) … the back camera is meh…. I’ll speak to them tomorrow to see if there’s a way to improve the quality….. the good thing is that the cans integrate with some of the hardware in the car (sensors etc).

Here you are the picture quality of the front and back cameras. Front is great, back is awful at night. If anyone can help with any configuration for the pack cam please let me know!

I had the OEM Porsche Dash Kam installed. I admit the software attached to it is a little clunky and dated, but it works. I purposely do not keep my phone attached to the camera Wi-Fi as it inhibits Apple CarPlay. Seeing as how I would only access this video in the event of collision, it would be easy to connect to the camera Wi-Fi and retrieve it then.

Other than that, I like that it was easy to install and integrates with the vehicle systems. with its location under the rearview mirror it is also out of my line of site. I’m sure there are newer and higher resolution dash cams out there, but this was a breeze to install at the dealership with no trim removal.

you can view a video in the app. It continuously records and overrides all data, but saves it if there is a collision is my understanding.

Here’s the part number and website link. I’m not sure what the installation charge is as I negotiated the dash cam and install as part of my vehicle purchase. That was the only incentive the dealership was willing to give me for ordering the car in January

My rear camera is showing as blank, it records but it’s just a black screen when I try and playback within the app (the front is fine). The dealer has said I need file splitting software in order to view the rear clips. Surely not…? How are you viewing the rear clips, via the Porsche dashcam app or some other way?

That's nonsense. The front and rear cam each have their own SD cards. I can see them in the Porsche Dashcam App. Under the video playback or live image options, it then gives the option for front and rear.

I only connect my iphone to the Dashcam Wi-Fi when I want to use the app and see a video, otherwise I hit forget network so that my wireless CarPlay continues to work seamlessly.

Interesting, thanks for confirming that yours is visible via the app. For live or playback I just get this… so in this case it shows me a minute’s worth of blackness.

you should definitely be getting video showing on your rear camera. Mine does.
