Porsche EVs don't hold their value - should we get a discount ?

7-10% discount on the Macan seems readily available, and I suspect more on the Taycan. Also plenty of pre reg Macans seem to be available too. This is only 3 months after general release so values, certainly in the UK, are looking to go a similar way to the Taycan (maybe not as far as the car has a broader appeal)

It’s not really surprising. My Macan has far too many “quirks” that have gotten under my skin in just a couple of months.


A Model Y, albeit more bland inside and out… albiet less fun to drive, is significantly cheaper and far easier to live with.

I ordered in July, then got cold feet, wanted to pull out and they dropped the price to keep our order.

My partner has subsequently ordered herself a custom 4S from another dealership with the same discount.

Dealers in the US are starting to give discounts too: steeper ones for 2024 but custom 2025 orders are getting it too.

It was bound to happen… in the meantime, I’m already enjoying my car and it’s pretty much been issue-free!

So it is well known Porsche does not offer any discount / no room for negotiation when buying brand new car (except maybe for those who were buying more than 5 cars a year ) while it's always a bit frustrating, that was also contributing our Porsche to hold their value very well - Now, it seems it is not the case anymore for EVs, Taycan depreciation is huge and unfortunately we can expect the Macan following the same path ...so should we expect Porsche to change their policy and offer room for negotiation?

These days discounts are plentyful on stock cars (any) including Macan EVs - around £4K.

All 2nd hand EVs of any brand plummet in value - fuelled by fear of battery degradation.

List price should either be reduced (unlikely) or inflate trade offers.

That’s a bit misleading - anyone leasing gets that $7.5K credit in the US (at least until the loophole is closed). Can’t really count that as a dealer discount.

The nearly 10% off discounts I referred to are *actual* dealer discounts, and if you lease, you get the additional $7.5k credit.

Don’t feel bad @cottony: sure discounts will keep happening and new year models will bring features we don’t/can’t have.

You already have the car, you’re loving it, just enjoy it… and figure new amazing & creative ways to further improve it with your 3D printer my friend!
