One year with my first Porsche and my first BEV

So, I’ve had my ‘25 Macan 4 for a little over a year now.

Here is an exhaustive list of problems which weren’t caused by operator error:

1) the rear camera went out and had to be replaced
2) the internet connection seems occasionally unreliable, especially if we haven’t driven for a few days, and the profiles don’t get loaded.

Here’s the good stuff:

1) Everything else

This car is fun to drive (and I don’t enjoy driving). I’ll never ever go back to an ICE. Works great for long trips. I had solar installed at the same time, and my costs for fuel per year are less than what I would spend on two tanks of gas for my old A6.

I’m sorry this isn’t much of a review, but unlike so many of you, I’ve had no real problems so far and the car is a joy to drive. It also gets people’s attention, even though we are only a couple hundred kilometers from Stuttgart. You just don’t see many Macan EVs yet.

Now, if they would just come out with an electric Boxster, we could sell the Z4

Well it’s next in line after the Cayenne. “Soon” might be exaggerated
They will need the BEV version for Europe so it will happen.

My rear camera is also malfunctioning and my local dealership told me it needs to be replaced as well.
Do you have any knowledge how hard it was for yours to be replaced?For how long did they keep the car in to perform the replacement?

To tell the truth I don't trust the local dealership that much and I'm concerned about the possibility for something else to be broken during the replacement procedure.
It even crossed my mind to bring the car in to a German dealership as on mid November I'll travel to Stuttgart area for 1 and half month,most likely they should know way better how the job must be done.I'm thinking about the dealership in Böblingen as it's quite close to where I stay when I'm there.
If you have a suggestion I would certainly appreciate it!

It took a few days. I can’t really remember; it wasn’t quick, though. I believe (but don’t know) that they had to open up quite a bit of the rear end to do it.

I can’t give you a dealer recommendation, I just go to the local dealer where I bought the car; I don’t have any other option.

Regarding the electric Cayman- I’m not expecting it any time soon. I may be too old to drive by the time it gets here. I’m not sure how it is in the US, but in Germany BEVs are becoming increasingly common. No I don’t have any hard statistics; that’s just based on my impression and what friends and acquaintances are doing, filtered through my eyes which are more aware of them these days. So my impression is worth exactly nothing.

It’s only my guess, but if I were the Porsche executive making the decision on the Boxster/Cayman EV, I’d be waiting for solid state batteries to reduce the weight substantially.
