Re the meter measuring of 2.5 decibels difference (post # 5), the human ear perceives a sound doubling in level when decibels are increased 3 decibels — so 2.5 increase in sound level is a major difference.
3dB is a doubling in power, not loudness. Perceptually, 2.5dB is very minor--most people cannot perceive a 1dB difference. 2dB is the threshold for normal hearing. It takes 10dB for a sound to double in loudness.

Insulated glass will do nothing for the noise transmitted via the footwells and wheel arches. Therefore tire noise will be noticeable regardless. Passing traffic will be less noticeable.
Yep. Super important to realize--wind and environmental noise are the only things insulated glass helps drown out. Road and tire noise won't be affected at all.

If you're driving on a quiet highway on a calm day, you could easily measure the same numbers and not see the acoustic glass doing anything at all.

In loud city traffic or a storm, probably will be noticeable.

If I had time to order mine (was trying to beat new auto tariffs)- I would have added thermal and noise insulated glass- for *wind* noise mainly and heat.

At about 80 mph- I notice more wind noise than we had on an iX.

And for road trips in Summer (in Southern CA)- it would be nice to reduce sunlight heat in the cabin. I added ceramic tint to the windshield on our previous iX- and it created a "haze" that was really noticeable, especially when it rained. Porsche's glass would probably do a good job with heat without affecting optics.

I have the insulated glass and have been impressed by how well it cuts down on heat in the cabin. I was sitting in my car for an hour last weekend in direct sunlight, with the sun coming in through the driver side window. I never felt uncomfortable, something I could not say about my previous car which had 3M ceramic tint.

I went for the rear wiper and none insulating glass, the reason being, god forbid, but if you are in a car accident and need to break the insulated glass, you can forget about that. And as already mentioned by others, the difference in noise should not be that important …

I have the insulated glass and have no regrets --- road noise is minimal (I have 21 inch winters and 22 inch all-seasons). Together with Burmester, long highway trips have been an absolute pleasure.

I picked up my Turbo in December and made it through our typical Toronto slushy, salt-sprayed winter driving season without ever wishing I had ordered the wiper. As others have said, the angle of the glass (and presumably the resulting air flow) seems to keep the rear window glass clean.
Plus (again as others have said) the view through the rear glass is quite limited so you'll rely more on the side mirrors and surround camera views when backing up.

Agree with this. it does tamper down city noise, cars swooshing by when you're waiting for a left turn, or loud engine vehicles driving next to you at lower speeds. Otherwise at highway speeds it's not a noticeable difference. The heat benefit I can get with cermic tint so not worried on that front.

One thing to note, i have a gate transponder that i can remove and take with me vehicle to vehicle. Worked fine with my Macon turbo without insulated glass, did not work with the macon 4 loaner with insulated glass, had to roll the drivers side window down and point it outside. That would be pretty annoying for me on a daily basis.
