“Exit” button in front storage area

What is this? And why doesn’t the users manual have any info about this button when you search “exit button” or even “exit”?

Required in most countries as an emergency exit feature in case a child is trapped inside (playmates having “fun,” etc). Same existing button in a trunk on a traditional sedan.

In the EU we don't have that exit button. It's not mandatory here.
