Howdy ya'll.

So I'm almost 15k miles into my eMacan 4S. Wanted to give a quick pros/cons.

Overall I'm happy with the car, but not as in love with it as I was my 1st Taycan. That's the tradeoff for a car that's MUCH easier to live with and far more practical, though.

Pros;
-Literally zero issues in 15k miles. Nadda. Nothing. Software has barely had any glitches, car has worked perfectly.
-Car drives very well. Excellent size, decent enough assistance systems, sporty for an SUV, quick, comfortable, etc.
-Interior is very nice, big step up from the ICE Macans. Very classy, would 100% recommend a non-black interior. Mine is Biege with Neodyme, 10/10.
-Looks have actually grown on me quite a bit. Mine is Ice Grey with painted sideblades, no roof rack. It's a very sharp looking SUV.
-I actually find it quite a good deal for the price. It's a nice car.
-Plug & charge seems to have fixed the majority of the charging problems I had in the Taycan. Have had almost no issues at EA with my Macan.
-Software is very fast, very easy to use. Google works great, it all works great.

Cons;
-Range isn't what I had hoped. Still haven't seen a single trip where I would have gotten 300 miles. 220-240 at true highway speeds in winter, around 260-280 in summer conditions. Disappointing for an SUV in 2025, drastically outclassed by the iX.
-Windshield wiper/jets. WTF? LOL. It's so weird and bad. Really minor thing but it's bizarre.
-18-way Seats aren't great, specifically not enough cushion in the backrest. I use a pillow/pad and it fixes it. Still, meh seats which is a bummer as my old ICE Turbo had the best seats.
-Some specs look much worse, IMO. Be careful how you spec it. I love mine but I've seen some that just don't look great. Highly recommend no or black roof rails and body colored side panels.

It's a very nice car!

I’ve driven my Turbo for 6 months and covered 10,000 miles. There have been minor electronic glitches, but they often fix themselves overnight when I lock the car. Even the charging issue resolved itself after a night of waiting and then plugging in. I almost called the dealer but decided to wait 12 hours, and the problem cleared up on its own. It often feels like dealing with a PC: just restart it occasionally, and everything runs smoothly.

Aside from that, it’s a blast to drive. I do miss my Taycan 4S, but for daily use, this Macan is far superior!

I've got 500 miles in a demo with 18-way. Not sure what you mean that you need a pillow? Do you have back issues? (no-offense)

What about the windshield wiper jets? Haven't tried them. They've been fine in every other porsche I've owned.

Some specs look worse? TRUE - but I've felt this way about all porsche builds. But which are you referring to?

You highly recommend "No or black roof rails". 100%. If you get silver roof rails, you inherently get silver window trim. How silver window trim is allowed on Macan's is beyond me. It's awful. Like Buick awful..

You'll see with the wiper jets. They basically just shoot water over the roof. Also never a problem I've had before.

No back issues but I am notoriously picky on seats. I have very broad shoulders (like freakishly so) and it causes problem with more contoured seats. But the problem seems more that the backrest is either too firm with the lumber inflated or not supportive enough if it isn't. Haven't been able to find a middle ground. The headrest not being adjustable limits how much I can play with this, which is probably the main reason I'd recommend the 14s (assuming headrest is adjustable on those as it was on the Taycan)

The "uglier" specs are mainly ones with the silver trim/rails or the base wheels. I also think some colors suit it notably better. But you're right, this is true of all cars and especially Porsche. Not really a Macan specific thing.

I'm regularly getting sub 30KWhr/100 mile from my turbo at 3500 miles and 4 months old. Generally getting over 300 miles from 100% down to 5% when I do charge fully. Mostly I charge to 80% and top up at around 30%.

I went for the comfort seats for the air cooling and massage function and can't fault them.

Pictured here for my spec :)

I’ve driven ~5k miles on my Macan 4 (Green, 4WS, 18way seats, 21” Off road wheel) since November when I took delivery. My overall average is 31.1 kWh/100 miles Which translates to an absolute max of 305 miles on a charge 100>0.

I replace my 2019 ICE Macan S which I loved. I would never go back to an ICE car (maybe a manual 911) and I have zero regrets.

Drivability is amazing. The handling is Porsche-quality, there is no substitute. I’ve not missed the S or Turbo acceleration, the 4 has plenty.

Windshield jets! Yes, they are terrible. The fronts point all over the place, mostly too high. I needed to get a small screwdriver to move them to better cover the front windshield. I had to do the same thing on my ICE Macan. Seems to me there are factory setup for driving at 100 MPH, where the wind would knock down the water. Sadly, no Autobahn here, so resetting them is necessary.

A continuation of my post. I live at the top of a mountain, and I regular travel 2000 vertical feet each way every day. The efficiency is terrible - I gain about 2% battery going downhill and loose 5-8% going uphill depending on temperature and how fast I’ve driving. This is expected.

One thing to add I found very useful here in Colorado with large elevation changes. The onboard google map will accurately predict your SOC at the end of a trip, even with altitude changes. This is critical here and the only reason I use the onboard Google map occasionally, but prefer the Apple CarPlay/map setup.

Sorry about your range. You sure are right about the iX being better in that area, but for us we are so thrilled we got rid of our iX M60 and now have a vehicle we love to drive. Getting groceries or going to the hardware store are now somethings we now look forward to.

Glad that you have has 15,000 no issue miles and that there are several things about it you are very happy with.

You'll see with the wiper jets. They basically just shoot water over the roof. Also never a problem I've had before.

Grab a needle from a sewing kit and put the needle into the jet and point them down to your liking. If they are like most other cars, they are orbital. Prepare to have a buddy sit in the car to test as you adjust the top ones.

Regarding base wheels - I'll go a step further and say all the wheels are uninspiring with the exception of the 22" RS Spider in Vesuvius Grey. But I won't do 22" on our horrific roads so I'm left with the others.

Hi to All.

I just read this initial review and the replies and added observations of those that followed.

Really have to agree with the various observations noting a few caveats:

- Delighted to hear most/all have had no software issues. That makes me proud to still love the Porsche Brand. I got an early production car that has had many serious issues. That said, each of the Dealer interventions cured the specific software issue and none have repeated. Fingers crossed.
- being 5’7” the seats w/18 adj feel great and frankly are netter than those in my former 2021 Macan S
- Agree with interior comparison EV v ICE
- Mileage is generally well covered by all noting that my Macan 4 EV is getting crazy recharge range at 100% being 380miles on average. I did register 405 a couple of times. Crazy!!!
- Truth is mileage and recharge is affected by so many things as noted by all, weather, winter vs spring/summer, lead foot off the line, average speeds on trips, night vs day (lights), etc. the more I drive it hard and fast the faster range drops. Feathering and average speeds of daily commute to work in/out of NYC I’m getting 21-24kw versus well over 30kw consumption driving it like a Porsche on highways and weekend trips when I go to our house away with highways and mixed country roads.
- Bose isn’t as good as Bose in my ICE Porsches.

Wishing everyone happy travels.

2021 Taycan CT4 (past 2018 Pan4 ST E-Hybrid; future Macan 4)
Country flag
Since the OP reviewed his Macan EV vs. his Taycan, I'll weigh in on my own comparisons of my '21 Taycan CT4 to a Macan 4 that I special-ordered and haven't taken ownership of yet due to a variety of factors including two recurring warning lights in the instrument panel that the dealership isn't able to fix. I'm focusing on practicality, not appearance.

Where my CT4 is better than "my" Macan 4:
(1) driving dynamics
(2) acceleration
(3) no moving rear spoiler (which can and will break in the Macan)
(4) doors open wider (easier egress, ingress -- though much lower)
(5) no opening/moving roof glass (something more to break and cause leaks in the Macan, eventually).

Where "my" Macan 4 is better than my CT4 (not in any order):
(1) range ... 50-80 miles better
(2) can close off light/heat from sun roof (translucent cloth covering)
(3) much-better-designed storage areas in front seat (and overall design of the front-seat area)
(4) much better backward visibility (mostly due to much better/wider exterior mirrors)
(5) quicker-responding navigation software
(6) frunk opens by pushing a button (in the Taycan, you have to use your hand as a second motion to open the frunk after you unlock it first -- so it's really three motions/actions/efforts instead of one in the Macan)
(7) has heated windshield (no air needed to clear fog/ice from front windshield)
(8) better ground clearance
(9) can put "regen" on (i.e., "coasting off") and it stays on permanently
(10) no battery recall
(11) no side slits behind front wheels to splatter dirt/rocks onto sides of car
(12) regular door handles (not electronic/receding ones like in the Taycan, which can and will break)
(13) has a central volume dial (none in the Taycan, which frustrates my passengers)
(14) manual front inside air vents (the electronic-only vents in the front of the Taycan, moveable only via the touchscreen, are maddenly frustrating to use in practice, especially when there are two people sitting in the front -- as dumb a design idea as are receding/electronic door handles).

The battery recalls on the Taycans is, of course, the mastodon in the room.
