Apex Protect GPS system - don’t fall for it!

When I bought my Macan, I was offered this optional GPS monitoring system by Porsche. I declined, but the dealer offered to cover it. The subscription costs about $1500 for 3 years. I strongly advise against it. Not only it is somewhat redundant, but it is a crappy device. It not only fails to monitor your vehicle’s location in real time, but there is a 4 to 5 hour delay. Imagine that, by the time you are notified that your car has moved or has been stolen, the thieves had many hours to do whatever they want with it and probably already found the GPS device and removed it. I am even disappointed with Porsche for recommending it.

Not a Porsche system. Recommended by my dealership in Atlanta. Again, it’s one of those unnecessary options which I always decline. I got it “for free” since they offered to cover the cost. However, I’m posting it here in case someone else is tempted to get it.

I’ve had a lot of dealerships try to sell me essentially worthless warranties, upholstery protection etc. My Porsche dealership did not try any of that and worked hard to address the hatch issue I did have. This is worth loyalty to me.

I would hope there are alternatives in Atlanta for your service business.

My hatch did not reliably open and sometimes didn’t reliably close. This is now resolved
