Haven’t dealt with dealer for years - because Tesla and Rivian direct.

What is the current lay of the land with Porsche dealers? Anything I should look out for? Expect?

Specifically:

Final Price - Used to clicking and paying. Are they going to try to tack on added charges last minute?

Service - I figure they are going to try to sell a service plan? Does this make sense numbers wise? Or better to just say no and just go when needed? Does a plan really save any money or just there to lock you in?

Inspection - How much time should I spend checking on the car? I would like to think this is a Porsche, I just paid a lot, of course it is perfect. But are there any areas I should definitely check out / confirm working?

Tips - anything else I’m missing?

Thanks in advance for any advance info.

Cheers!

One of the big misses is the plug and charge … so make sure ALL software is updates and working…..and the lighting recall update. nothing more frustrating than going back and not having the car work at max

There is a two year required service (inspection and brake fluid flush) that you can prepay for ($1400) or you can shop around in two years. I've read here that it generally runs about that much anyway.

But dealers are different. There are those that will use every marketing technique to sell add ons, others just go over the options without pressure. Pricing can vary. For me the only ones that may make sense is the prepaid 2 year service and the Porsche dash cam. But thats very dependent on the use case.

The two important tips recently seems to be having the SA set everything up for you including your phone and plug and charge. That should verrify the software is working as it should. Look at the charge doors, they should be flush. Open and close all the doors.

1400 dollars? In the Netherlands, all prices for maintenance can be read transparently on the Porsche website. The prices for the Macan EV are not yet on the website, but a comparable maintenance for the Taycan is € 579 ($608) and for the brake fluid €159. ($167)

This is the US Scheduled Maintenance plan from https://assets-v2.porsche.com/us/-/...25-Porsche-Scheduled-Maintenance-Plan-Pricing . This covers the scheduled maintenance only. Its additive, so if you want all 6 years on a Macan EV thats $6750.

Items not specified in the vehicle’s maintenance booklet, or that result from wear and tear, are not covered. Examples include brake pads, rotors, and tires.

The biggest cost is in the checklist (general maintenance and inspection). ICE includes oil service and spark plugs and is anual. EV is every two years, so EV is about half if the ICE over two years.

Not saying it is a good deal, I understand the check list takes most of a day.

My SA really pushed on LoJack and key protection. I said I didn't want either. When I went into finance, the key protection was still on. Finance called the SA who said "you wanted it." No, I didn't. Finance said well we put it on every deal because we have to sell so many to keep our dealer status. Not my issue! They discounted the car and then added the protection. She did push all the service options. My P&C just started working today (three weeks after delivery). I couldn't ever get the certificate installed (the dealer said it only works half the time). Today I looked on the app and I could request the certificate. It downloaded and now the button isn't greyed out. Yay! Needless to to say the dealer didn't get a stellar rating on their survey.
