Tl;dr: he has very high praise for the GTS in his driving review. “…driving this car, and I mean this in all sincerity, this car feels like a hot hatch.”

Excellent review although his harping on how EV's have fallen out of favor is overdone/superfluous and only relevant in the US. I do agree that Porsche is facing hard times but not JUST because of EV's. There are many factors involved including the shifts in China that are hitting ALL non-Chinese car manufacturers... not to mention inflating prices in general (not just with EV's). I do agree with him though that it's a shame more people don't actually try and drive these cars. We'd have many more converts. Especially if you are looking at a high end ICE Macan. There is just no comparison as I keep getting reminded every time the dealer gives me one as a loaner :-(.

FYI: the US has a stable/shrinking population of 1/3 of a billion. The rest of the world (poorer for the most part) has more than 6 Billion. The price of gas in the US is 4-5 dollars a gallon.. it's over 10 dollars a gallon elsewhere .. when it's actually available in quantity. EV's are going to dominate the future modulo any additional breakthroughs at scale in renewable power. I'd rather be designing and building/perfecting EV's for the over 6 billion population than desperately hanging on to the 1950's designing gas hogs for less than 1/3 of a billion. Both Ford and GM know this. They are NOT giving up on EV's .. neither is Rivian and Tesla.

I’ve watched a number of his reviews over the years and he definitely seems more enthusiastic and energized about the driving of the GTS than other trims and competitors . that’s good news.

He has moved from quality to quantity. If you watch his 2020 Taycan review, that's a review, but this one, while enthusiastic, lacks substance and he is not even looking up the data like he used to such as weight spec to compare to competitors, so he goes, whatever that is, we know it is an EV and heavy anyway. Also, his brand is quirks and features, and he brought up ZERO new features for 2027 that would be cool to see such as memorizing a parking path and showing see through hood, etc. If you watch his MB G-Wagon review, he spent hours trying to get all the conditions right for the tank move. I get it, he has many other priorities now, but his latest reviews are basically about nothing with only value seeing the car up close in a video.

I went into my dealer to purchase an ICE Macan GTS and ended up ordering a 4S after taking that for a spin. The work Porsche's done to the driving dynamics of the Macan EV is magical.

I wish people would get over the unjustified EV hate and just test drive one, especially high performance EVs.

And Doug is right that this is a Macan and not a sacred model like the 911. The EV format is perfect for vehicles like these.

The only ICE vehicles I see myself purchasing in the future would be ones with truly special engines and chassis. The 911 and 718 are obvious choices for loads of fun.

For an everyday do-everything-while-having-fun vehicle it's hard to beat the EV format.

And on another note - I do wish Doug went further into how different the GTS handles versus the Turbo with the updated suspension tuning and lower ground clearance. It's interesting that he gave them the same score for handling.
