I noticed in the middle there was a nit pick about the lack one go pedal driving, but at the end they admired how it and the BMW and Mercedes emulates driving a gas model. A pleasure to drive so they said I think. One brake pedal driving is more useful for me in getting in and out of tight spaces.

There are several nits that are subjective and I don't agree with, except the gear selector being in an awkward position for me. Piano black fingerprints come off easily with a wipe of one of those eyeglass cleaning cloths optometrists usually provide with new eyeglasses.

For me, I wholeheartedly disagree with the sentiment that the shifter should be in the lower center console like he said in the video. Personal preference I know, but I feel it would be a colossal waste of space and would rather have that space for the climate controls or additional storage. It's not like it's a manual transmission car so it doesn't have to be a centerpiece. Having it be small and tucked away yet still within my fingertips is perfect for me.

I like these reviewers even though I don’t agree with many of their complaints, they seem to do a pretty good job covering the cars features and performance.

I like the reviewers and they seem to own and owned several Porsches before and their son appears to have a GT3, but they fall into the common call it a rookie knowledge of the brand mistake by having no curiosity why Porsche making decisions that they do (shifter, one pedal, etc.). I am no brand historian but having been with the brand exclusively for 10 years now, if anything you got to learn is that heritage is everything, so anyone just coming into the brand reviewing a car they have never seen or running into things they do not understand when cross shopping (this car has X and Porsche does not have it), instead of appreciating how clever the brand infuses their models with their absolute classic features while making them modern.

Let's be specific, but I am not going to teach a lesson here but say enough to make someone curious.

Turbo trims on EVs.
SportsChrono Clock.
Fuel Gage. Markings.
Key/Power button. Left side placement.
One Pedal driving. Never.
Lack of Standard Equipment.
Taycan getting in and out. Clue 918 Spyder.
Shifter look and feel and placement. Clue 918 Spyder.

Bottom line, if the shifter is good enough for the 918 Spyder, I am thrilled to have it in my Taycan and Macan EV and experience a piece of heritage every time I shift in cars that cost a fraction of it.

After you read this, then his comment about the shifter in the middle sounds like he has no clue what he is talking about. I am not arguing about if that would be better or more ergonomic, that is not the point obviously.

One of the big reasons I made the jump to a Macan 4S, having been previously anti-EV, was Porsche's focus on making it feel like an ICE without one pedal driving.

Took it for a test drive and I was so impressed by how easy it was to transition from ICE to an EV, the learning curve driving it was non-existent.

Which led me to appreciate the other aspects of the Macan (e.g., the handling, instant torque, comfort, etc).

Highly doubt I would have made the transition to EV if my first exposure was one pedal driving.

There seems to be a law for online EV discussions: Eventually, every thread ends up arguing about One Pedal Driving.

My annoyance with many OPD discussions is that most people online, like this review, call this 'regen braking', when the 2 are different, but tied together in most cars - but not Porsche EVs (no One Pedal Driving, but LOTS of regen braking)

Yes this! I remember when the macan was released it had one of the highest regen breaking capabilities at 240kW. But then hearing all the reviewers and so called experts saying that the Macan didn't have regen breaking drove me nuts

One peddle driving give me a break, it makes people feel sick, it does with me anyway, maybe ok for the driver, though I don't want it at all, but for passengers it can be horrendous

Other Porsche models have the gear selector in the centre and have plenty room for AC controls etc - 911, forthcoming 718 EV etc.

Personally, I felt it misplaced in the Macan and Taycan (hidden from sight) and prefer it in the centre console.

My 9Y0.2 Cayenne and 976 Panamera both have the shifter on the dash, same as my Taycan and the Macan EV do. It isn’t really an issue to me, my 9Y0.1 Cayenne had the large console shifter and a piece of it gave up and broke after 3 years, and that was just with regular use.

Yesterday I drove my wife's car that had a traditional centre console shifter. I got so used to the location of the Macan's shifter on the dash that I instinctively looked for it there and got confused for a second when I couldn't find it.

It's all just really a matter of muscle memory. If reviewers used a dash shifter over a few days I'm sure it would be a non-issue.

I routinely drive three cars, one with the floor shift lever, one with a rotary dial on the dash (sometimes mistaken by feel for radio volume) and the Macan. I have muscle memory, but my muscles can't tell which car I'm driving at the time. My only quibble with the Macan location is that, for my driving position, it is tucked behind the steering wheel out of view.

I'm getting better at finding it by feel, but I do like to see the selector as a double check. The cluster indicator is visible, so not a big deal,
