i live in NC and it is usually in the 80-90’s F this time of year. When I start the car the fans under the car are quite loud. When I drive in an unpaved parking lot I kick up huge amounts of dust. I have the Battery Conservation turned off in the My Porsche app. Is this just caused by just the car’s AC? Needless to say, people in the parking lot are not very pleased with me.

I feel like the car is trying to become a hovercraft. The fans must point straight down. I guess I will have to turn off the AC until I leave the parking lot. My car gets coated in dust. Glad to know I am not the only one that has had this happen.

I was thinking hovercraft, but was also thinking cooling fan for the hot battery.

I also thought of the battery and turned off the Battery Conservstion. My battery temperature is around 87 F, which I didn’t think was too hot. I will try turning off the AC the next time I will pull into a dirt parking lot.

i don't think you can control the fan for the battery...it's gonna run that fan if it feels the battery temp is high.
but i noted, I wasn't charging when i noticed it. I just had the AC on...but it was also a hot day.

It happened to me too. I'll try turning off the air conditioning.

Last Sunday I was parked in a sand lot and I had programmed the AC to cool the car to a comfortable temperature by 4:00PM. Ambient temps were in the mid to high 80s with bright sunshine.

The car sat in the lot for several hours so the battery temperature wouldn't have required the fans, but running the AC to get the interior temperature down definitely did. The fans were running on high when I returned and very loud, though I didn't see any dust flying from under the car. That could have been a consequence of the composition of the dirt, or it could be that merely using the AC doesn't create the wind storm that cooling the battery does.

If I walk into my garage with the key in my pocket, the car starts cooling the interior with the AC and the fans come on. So this isn't always due to battery conditioning.

I parked in a dusty gravel lot last week, and the fans didn't kick up much if anything, but driving around caused a dust storm that I now need to wash off.

Thanks for sharing this experience. We’ve not had rain for a few days, which is rare. The clouds of fine dust were impressive when I crossed a paved, but less busy, parking area today. Without the earlier notes I would have worried as to what was going on.
