What is the experience like in the Macan PCM when you have multiple CarPlay or Android Auto devices connected? Is that even possible, is switching between two devices straight forward?

I can’t speak to one iPhone and one Android device, but having two iPhones is a breeze: both phones are detected by the car and the default one gets CarPlay automatically.

If you want tte other phone to take over, just go to the Devices screen on the PCM and tap the CarPlay icon on the desired device.

Only one device can be active at a time, you can’t have two iPhones controlling CarPlay simultaneously. I suspect the same goes for CarPlay + Android Auto.

If you have the passenger display, two iPhones can be active at once. But (I think) the preferred iPhone handles phone calls. I don't know what happens if both iPhones are not "preferred". I put "I think" because I haven't fully tested around whether 2 phones can actually be used for phone calls. I just know that we use 2 active phones at once all the time and it seems to prefer my phone for phone calls.

For example, the driver's screen and the center screen can display data about my iPhone and Waze while the passenger screen displays music from the 2nd iPhone. We have put the system in a state where the driver's screen displays data about my iPhone and the center screen displays Waze from the 2nd iPhone, but I'm not 100% certain how to replicate it because my wife always figures it out and can't give me the instructions to replicate (and we don't care enough to try to fully document it yet).

Here's an example of a scenario that happened this week. 2 phones connected. PCM Navigation on. 1 phone playing music. My phone engaged in a phone call (I was on hold). I held down the steering wheel voice button for a partial second and said, "Hey Porsche, add a stop for Starbucks" and the car's PCM navigation instantly found the local Starbucks on the route, updated the navigation, remapped the charging plan, and everything continued normally. My wife, who believes she is not particularly technically inclined, somehow figures out how to control the music from the passenger display during every trip and she can't report back what she does and I can't see the passenger display.

My guess is that you are not seeing two phones connected via CarPlay. Instead, you are seeing one (your’s) via CarPlay and the other (your wife’s) as a connected audio device. This is possible without a second screen as well.

I would find it surprising if you could bring up a second Home Screen on the passenger display. This would prove my suspicion wrong and validate dual CarPlay connections.

Please report back if you can.

I was not able so far to bring Android Auto devices to the passenger screen. They show up on the center screen just fine. But nothing on the passenger screen. unfortunately.
